1. Selection schemes and neural networks in adaptive real-time control : predictive simulation adaptive control
Abstract : The vision of self-aware machines was the starting point of this work. The idea is a machine having knowledge about itself and its surrounding environment, being able to react to changes in the environment. READ MORE

2. Active Control of Propeller-Induced Noise in Aircraft : Algorithms & Methods
Abstract : In the last decade acoustic noise has become more and more regarded as a problem. In cars, boats, trains and aircraft, low-frequency noise reduces comfort. Lightweight materials and more powerful engines are used in high-speed vehicles, resulting in a general increase in interior noise levels. READ MORE

3. Adaptive Forgetting through Multiple Models and Adaptive Control of Car Dynamics
Abstract : A new recursive identif ication method, Adaptive Forgetting through Multiple Models - AFMM, is presented and evaluated using computer simulations. AFMM is specif ically suited for identification of systems with jumping or rapidly changing parameters. READ MORE

4. Adaptive Finite Element Methods for Compressible Two-Phase Flow
Abstract : In this thesis we develop, apply and analyse adaptive finite element methods with error control for compressible flow problems, focusing in particular on two-phase flow. The adaptive algorithms, aiming at quantitative error control with efficient use of computational resources, are based on a posteriori error estimates, where the error is estimated in terms of the computed solution, the local mesh-size and certain stability factors. 5. Adaptive Multidimensional Filtering
Abstract : This thesis contains a presentation and an analysis of adaptive filtering strategies for multidimensional data. The size, shape and orientation of the flter are signal controlled and thus adapted locally to each neighbourhood according to a predefined model. READ MORE
