6. Wafer-level heterogeneous integration of MEMS actuators
Abstract : This thesis presents methods for the wafer-level integration of shape memory alloy (SMA) and electrostatic actuators to functionalize MEMS devices. The integration methods are based on heterogeneous integration, which is the integration of different materials and technologies. READ MORE

7. MEMS Interfaces for Bioanalysis Systems
Abstract : This thesis deals with various aspects of using open microfluidic interfaces. Three specific areas of application are studied. The first is air-to-liquid interfacing in biosensors with possibilities for component integration. A micromachined interface for airborne sample-to-liquid and droplet-to-liquid adsorption is discussed. READ MORE

8. Novel Microfluidic Devices Based on a Thermally Responsive PDMS Composite
Abstract : The field of micro total analysis systems (μTAS) aims at developments toward miniaturized and fully integrated lab-on-a-chip systems for applications, such as drug screening, drug delivery, cellular assays, protein analysis, genomic analysis and handheld point-of-care diagnostics. Such systems offer to dramatically reduce liquid sample and reagent quantities, increase sensitivity as well as speed of analysis and facilitate portable systems via the integration of components such as pumps, valves, mixers, separation units, reactors and detectors. 9. Anchorage in Concrete Structures : Numerical and Experimental Evaluations of Load-Carrying Capacity of Cast-in-Place Headed Anchors and Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors
Abstract : Various anchorage systems including both cast-in-place and post-installed anchors have been developed for fastening both non-structural and structural components to concrete structures. The need for increased flexibility in the design of new structures and strengthening of existing concrete structures has led to increased use of various metallic anchors in practice. READ MORE

10. Topics in Modeling, Control, and Implementation in Automotive Systems
Abstract : This thesis treats different aspects of automotive control-systems and consists of four papers covering different areas in this large field. The first paper presents a 9-degrees-of-freedom dynamic model of a tractor-semitrailer vehicle, aimed at simulation and evaluation of active chassis-systems for stability enhancements. READ MORE
