1. Melanophore a2-Adrenoceptors
Abstract : The present study provides new insight into the pharmacology, the signal transduction mechanisms and the molecular biology of a2-adrenoceptors (a2-ARs) in black pigment cells (melanophores) of a teleost fish, the cuckoo wrasse (Labrus ossifagus L.). READ MORE

2. α1- and α2-Adrenoceptors in the Eye : Pharmacological and Functional Characterization
Abstract : α1- and α2-Adrenoceptors are involved in various physiological events in the eye: blood flow regulation, aqueous humor dynamics and pupil regulation. The α1- and α2-adrenoceptors can be further subdivided into six subtypes (α1A, α1B, α1D, α2A , α2B, and α2C ). READ MORE

3. Function of B2-adrenoceptors on alveolar macrophages
Abstract : B2-Agonists are very effective drugs for bronchodilatation, provide a rapid relief of symptoms in asthma, and are recommended as first line treatment, together with steroids. The relaxation of bronchial smooth muscles is a well-established effect of B-agonists, but their effects on inflammatory cells in the airways are less certain. READ MORE

4. Blood Flow Regulation and Inflammatory Response in Experimental Models of Diabetes
Abstract : Type 2 diabetes is caused by defect pancreatic islet β-cells together with peripheral insulin resistance. The disease is often accompanied by obesity with associated low-grade visceral adipose tissue inflammation, which contributes to insulin resistance. READ MORE

5. Human vascular alpha-adrenoceptors. A study of peripheral arteries and veins in vitro and in vivo
Abstract : By means of a sensitive myograph and alpha-receptor subtype selective agonists and antagonists the postjunctional alpha-adrenoceptors were characterized in small omental and groin arteries and veins and in long saphenous veins obtained from 52 "healthy" adults during surgery. These vessels were found to have a mixed population of contraction mediating postjunctional alpha-receptors with a predominance of apha1-receptors in the arteries and a predominance of alpha2-receptors in the veins, although regional variations occurred.
