22. Computational methods for analysis and visualization of spatially resolved transcriptomes
Abstract : Characterizing the expression level of genes (transcriptome) in cells and tis- sues is essential for understanding the biological processes of multicellular or- ganisms. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) has gained traction in the last decade as a powerful tool that provides an accurate quantitative representation of the transcriptome in tissues. READ MORE

23. Survival of Cultured and Grafted Embryonic Dopaminergic Neurones - Effects of hypothermia and prevention of oxidative stress
Abstract : Transplantation of embryonic dopaminergic neurones can ameliorate symptoms in Parkinson’s disease, but a major obstacle for clinical transplantations to overcome is the low survival (typically 5-10%) of implanted nigral neurones. If cell death in nigral grafts can be prevented, less embryonic tissue would be needed per transplantation session and hence more patients could receive intracerebral grafts as a therapy for Parkinson’s disease. 24. Early life experiences and alcohol use in youth : An emerging role of the Vesicular Glutamate Transporters
Abstract : Initiation of alcohol consumption usually takes place during adolescence, a period characterized by a plethora of physical and emotional changes. Towards early adulthood, hazardous drinking patterns can emerge and potentially lead to the development of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). READ MORE
