1. Advanced Genomic Tools in Translational Research of Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Abstract : Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) affect >4.7% of individuals world-wide. Most cases are expected to have an underlying genetic cause. However, only 36–40% of those affected get a genetic diagnosis through exome sequencing. READ MORE

2. Foil-based Lab-on-Chip technologies for advanced Point-of-Care molecular diagnostics
Abstract : Infectious diseases pose a serious threat to global health. Molecular diagnostics provide solutions for effective control and prevention of infections, however suffers from expensive laboratory equipment, and infrastructure to be fully implemented at point of care (POC), especially at low-resource settings. 3. Applications of genomic tools to decode genome function
Abstract : The revolution in sequencing technologies has greatly advanced our understanding of genomes. Many regulatory elements lacking protein-coding ability, such as long non-coding RNAs have been identified and characterized in different biological contexts. READ MORE

4. GARD – Genomic Allergen Rapid Detection : From Biomarker Discovery towards a State-of-the-art Testing Platform for Chemical Sensitizers
Abstract : Chemical hypersensitivity reactions induced in the skin or in the respiratory tract are important health concerns and develops following repeated exposure to certain chemicals, termed sensitizers. To prevent such hazardous compounds from entering the consumer market, legal frameworks within EU require chemicals to be tested for their capacity to induce hypersensitivity. READ MORE

5. Trypanosoma cruzi genome plasticity and evolution
Abstract : Trypanosoma cruzi, a protozoan from the Kinetoplastidae family, is the etiologic agent of Chagas disease, a major public health problem affecting mostly the poorest areas of Latin America. Due to the complex nature of the parasite’s genome it has been impossible to produce a complete reference genome sequence, thus hampering the implementation of post- genomic approaches to unveil the mechanisms of generation of antigenic variation and the identification of new drug targets.
