7. Causes and mechanisms of an adverse outcome in patients with glucose abnormalities and cardiovascular disease : epidemiological and biochemical analyses
Abstract : Background: Diabetes and previously undetected glucose abnormalities are common in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). It is well established that patients with diabetes have a higher mortality rate after coronary events than patients without diabetes but the complication pattern in a contemporary perspective, the impact of glucose control and whether unknown glucose abnormalities affect the longterm prognosis is less well studied. 8. Acute lung injury : incidence and predictors of outcome with special reference to inhaled nitric oxide
Abstract : This work started out as a critical examination of the initial clinical experiences with inhalation of nitric oxide (INO) to patients with acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in Scandinavia 1991-1994. During this examination, we found that epidemiological data and prognostic factors were lacking in Scandinavia for these patient groups, making it difficult to evaluate new therapies. READ MORE

9. On Turbulence Modelling for Bilge Vortices: A Test of Eight Models for Three Cases

10. Hypoxic gene regulation and oncogenic pathways in neuroblastoma
Abstract : Neuroblastoma patients show remarkable clinical heterogeneity, with courses ranging from spontaneous regression to fatal tumor progression despite intense multi-modal treatment. Previous studies have shown that hypoxia pushes neuroblastoma cells towards a more immature phenotype, which correlates to aggressive disease. READ MORE
