2. Hygroscopic Properties of Atmospheric Aerosol Particles in Various Environments
Abstract : Atmospheric aerosol particles affect our living environment in many ways. Their effects are influenced by the interaction between the aerosol particles and the ubiquitous water vapour. The number-size distribution is a primary important parameter for aerosol particles and can be measured using the differential mobility particle sizer (DMPS). READ MORE

3. On the lifecycle of aerosol particles : Sources and dispersion over Scandinavia
Abstract : Aerosol particles are likely important contributors to our future climate. Further, during recent years, effects on human health arising from emissions of particulate material have gained increasing attention. READ MORE

4. Mechanisms for the Influence from Ice Nucleus Aerosols on Clouds and their Indirect Effects: Cloud Modelling
Abstract : The role of multiple groups of primary biological aerosol particles (PBAPs) as ice nucleating particles (INPs), and of ice formation processes such as time-dependent freezing of various INPs, and various secondary ice production(SIP) mechanisms in overall ice concentration has been evaluated in a range of cloud systems by simulating them numerically with the state-of-the-art ‘Aerosol-Cloud’ (AC) model in a 3D mesoscale domain. Also, the mechanismsof aerosol indirect effects (AIEs) arising from anthropogenic INPs, and the responses to these AIEs from time-dependent INP freezing and SIP processes are investigated in the simulated clouds. 5. Studies of aerosol particle formation from various sources using ion and electron beam analytical techniques
Abstract : The thesis presents the results of studies of aerosol particle formation using ion and electron beam analytical techniques. The sources of aerosol particle formation studied are the following: 1. production of primary aerosol particles in the high Arctic region during summers 2. READ MORE
