  1. 1. Wettability and Agglomeration Characteristics of Non-Metallic Inclusions

    Author : Changji Xuan; Pär Jönsson; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wettability; non-metallic inclusion; agglomeration mechanism; attraction force; complex deoxidation; particle addition; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : In this thesis, both the wettability and the agglomeration characteristics of non-metallic inclusions in liquid iron/steel were studied by using both experimental results and thermodynamic considerations. The mechanisms of the wettability of different types of inclusions were discussed. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Study of Biomass Combustion Problems and the Selective Catalytic Oxidation of Ammonia

    Author : Göran Olofsson; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Energy research; Reaction mechanism; Ammonia degradation; Pt CuO Al2O3 Catalysts; SCO; Selective Catalytic Oxidation; Catalytic hot gas cleaning; Bed agglomeration; NOx emissions; Fluidised bed; Biomass combustion; Biogas; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : Increasing awareness of the need of reducing CO2, NOx and SOx emissions from combustion systems has led to a strong interest in biomass as a fuel source. Using it in combination with fluidised bed combustion technology can lead to a lowering of NOx emissions to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  3. 3. Regional Economics, Trade, and Transport Infrastructure

    Author : Nicholas Sheard; Rikard Forslid; Keith Head; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : “Regional Policy in a Multiregional Setting: When the Poorest are Hurt by Subsidies” Regional subsidies have a positive short-term effect on the recipient regions, but as they alter migration patterns the long-term effects are less clear. This paper demonstrates using a three-region general equilibrium model that subsidising the poorest region may be to its detriment in the long term and thereby increase inter-regional inequality, if the subsidy draws firms from a nearby region that would function better as a production centre. 4. 4. Some aspects of non-metallic inclusions during vacuum degassing in ladle treatment : with emphasize on liquid CaO-Al2O3 inclusions

    Author : Young Jo Kang; Du Sichen; Takahiro Miki; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-metallic inclusions; ladle refining; vacuum degassing; ladle glaze; spinel; SiO2 activity; agglomeration; cold model; open-eye; inclusion removal; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : The present thesis was to study non-metallic inclusions during vacuum degassing in ladle treatment. Emphasize was mostly given to liquid CaO-Al2O3 inclusions. A series of industrial experiments were carried out at Uddeholm Tooling AB, Hagfors, Sweden. To gain an insight into the industrial findings, laboratory investigations were also performed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Adsorption of surfactants and polymers on iron oxides : implications for flotation and agglomeration of iron ore

    Author : Elisaveta Potapova; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : Iron ore pellets are an important refined product used as a raw material in the production of steel. In order to meet the requirements of the processes for iron production, the iron ore is upgraded in a number of steps including, among others, reverse flotation. READ MORE
