16. Effect of fuel composition and combustion conditions on phosphorus behavior during combustion of biomass
Abstract : Due to concerns for climate change and future supply of phosphorus fertilizer within agriculture, there has been an increased interest in the combustion of phosphorus containing waste residues and opportunity biomass fuels. Previous research has shown that during combustion, phosphorus has large impact on ash transformation reactions and may decrease or increase ash-related problems such as slag formation and bed agglomeration. 17. Experimental studies of ash transformation processes in combustion of phosphorus-rich biomass fuels
Abstract : The present thesis is a summary of eight papers dealing with experimental studies on bed agglomeration, slag formation, formation of deposits and fine particulate matter during combustion of phosphorus-rich biomass fuels. The experimental procedures were performed in a bubbling fluidized bed (5 kW), two fixed bed appliances (20 and 15 kW) and in a powder burner (150 kW). READ MORE

18. Toxicity of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles : the importance of physicochemical properties and cellular uptake
Abstract : The use of nanoparticles holds great promises in many technical as well as medical applications. However, development of new technologies, such as nanotechnology, is connected with uncertainties and risks. READ MORE

19. First principles study of tungsten-based alloys: From defect thermodynamics to phase diagrams
Abstract : Nuclear fusion is a very attractive option for energy production as it is clean, safe and efficient. The major obstacle in construction of fusion power plants is the development of materials that can tolerate the extreme operational condition especially high-energy neutron flux. READ MORE

20. Investigations on the Physico-Chemical Phenomena during Induration of a Magnetite Pellet
Abstract : In the era of globalization with increasing environmental awareness, sustainable utilization of the available resources is a necessity; iron ores are no exception. Pelletization, being one of the increasingly practiced agglomeration techniques for the iron ore fines as well as other solid wastes from steel plants. READ MORE
