  1. 16. Effect of fuel composition and combustion conditions on phosphorus behavior during combustion of biomass

    Author : Joel Falk; Marcus Öhman; Anita Petterson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Due to concerns for climate change and future supply of phosphorus fertilizer within agriculture, there has been an increased interest in the combustion of phosphorus containing waste residues and opportunity biomass fuels. Previous research has shown that during combustion, phosphorus has large impact on ash transformation reactions and may decrease or increase ash-related problems such as slag formation and bed agglomeration. 2. 17. Experimental studies of ash transformation processes in combustion of phosphorus-rich biomass fuels

    Author : Alejandro Grimm; Britt-Marie Steenari; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : The present thesis is a summary of eight papers dealing with experimental studies on bed agglomeration, slag formation, formation of deposits and fine particulate matter during combustion of phosphorus-rich biomass fuels. The experimental procedures were performed in a bubbling fluidized bed (5 kW), two fixed bed appliances (20 and 15 kW) and in a powder burner (150 kW). READ MORE

  3. 18. Toxicity of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles : the importance of physicochemical properties and cellular uptake

    Author : Pontus Cronholm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The use of nanoparticles holds great promises in many technical as well as medical applications. However, development of new technologies, such as nanotechnology, is connected with uncertainties and risks. READ MORE

  4. 19. First principles study of tungsten-based alloys: From defect thermodynamics to phase diagrams

    Author : Leili Gharaee; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; structural materials; first-principles calculations.; point defects; tungsten alloys; irradiation;

    Abstract : Nuclear fusion is a very attractive option for energy production as it is clean, safe and efficient. The major obstacle in construction of fusion power plants is the development of materials that can tolerate the extreme operational condition especially high-energy neutron flux. READ MORE
