  1. 1. Modelling of IC-Engine Intake Noise

    Author : Magnus Knutsson; Mats Åbom; Yves Auregán; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IC-engine; intake noise; gas dynamics; linear source data; frequency domain; 2-port; losses; air cleaner unit; filter paper; flow; FEM; BEM; charge air cooler; narrow tube; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Abstract : Shorter product development cycles, densely packed engine compartments and intensified noiselegislation increase the need for accurate predictions of IC-engine air intake noise at earlystages. The urgent focus on the increasing CO2 emissions and the efficiency of IC-engines, aswell as new techniques such as homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) mightworsen the noise situation. 2. 2. Estimating children’s exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances

    Author : Kerstin Winkens; Ian T. Cousins; Urs Berger; Robin Vestergren; Heather M. Stapleton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFAS; PFAA; fluorinated; fluorotelomer; FTOH; PAP; early life; child; human; exposure; intake; indoor; bedroom; air; dust; serum; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are highly stable, surface active chemicals, which are water- and oil/stain-repellent. Because of their unique properties, PFASs are widely used in consumer products. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling air―water flows in bottom outlets of dams

    Author : Ting Liu; James Yang; Anders Wörman; Michael Pfister; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Air pocket; Air entrainment; Bottom outlet; Critical velocity; Critical submergence; CFD; Experiment; Vortex; PIV; Two-phase air―water flow; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : If air is entrained in a bottom outlet of a dam in an uncontrolled way, the resulting air pockets may cause problems such as blowback, blowout and loss of discharge capacity. In order to provide guidance for bottom outlet design and operation, this study examines how governing parameters affect air entrainment, air-pocket transport and de-aeration and the surrounding flow structure in pipe flows. 4. 4. Intake air dynamics on a turbocharged SI-engine with wastegate

    Author : Per Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : On turbocharged spark-ignited (SI) engines with wastegate the position of the wastegate changes the exhaust manifold pressure. A secondary effect of this is that the residual gas mass trapped inside the cylinder at exhaust valve closing changes and causes the volumetric efficiency to change. READ MORE

  5. 5. Assessment of human exposure to per- and polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) : exposure through food, drinking water, house dust and indoor air

    Author : Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Gunilla Lindström; Bert van Bavel; Stuart Harrad; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; human exposure; per- and polyfluorinated compunds PFCs ; dietary intake; drinking water; indoor environment; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are detected in humans worldwide but all sources of human exposure have not been fully characterized. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the contributions from food, water, air and dust as sources for human PFC exposure in the general population. READ MORE
