  1. 6. Numerical Modelling of Dissolved Air Flotation

    Author : Mia Bondelind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; 2D; multiphase flow; one-phase; 3D; turbulence; Dissolved Air Flotation DAF ;

    Abstract : Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), a well-established treatment method for water containing e.g. dissolved organic matter and Cryptosporidium, has previously been examined experimentally. However, most measuring techniques still suffer from disturbances from air bubbles and intrusion of the measuring equipment into the flow. READ MORE

  2. 7. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

    Author : Johanna Tollbäck; Ulrika Nilsson; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air sampling; sampling methods; indoor air; SPE; SPME; extraction; dynamic extraction; online coupling; SWE; subcritical water extraction; GC MS; LC MS; organophosphate triesters; PAH; tetrabromobisphenol A; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS). 3. 8. Enhancements in Dielectric Response Characterization of Insulation Materials

    Author : Xiangdong Xu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; harmonic limited waveform; air reference method; contact-free electrode; geometric corrections.; frequency domain spectroscopy; Dielectric characterization;

    Abstract : The increasing demand of integrating various renewable energy recourses in power system requires extensive use of power electronic solutions, such as HVDC and FACTS, as these techniques allow energy conversion between different frequencies and serves to stabilize the network. Consequently, electric stresses other than traditional 50/60 Hz sinusoidal voltage stress are acting on high voltage insulation materials. READ MORE

  4. 9. Fear is in the air : Midwives´ perspectives of fear of childbirth and childbirth self-efficacy and fear of childbirth in nulliparous pregnant women

    Author : Birgitta Salomonsson; Klaas Wijma; Siw Alehagen; Ingela Rådestad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Anxiety; Childbirth; Content analysis; Fear; Focus-group interview; Midwives; Self-efficacy; Phenomenography; W-DEQ; CBSEI;

    Abstract : Introduction: In Western countries, about one pregnant woman in five experiences a considerable fear of childbirth (FOC). Consequently FOC is an important topic for midwives, being pregnant women’s main care givers. READ MORE

  5. 10. Evaporative and Desiccant Cooling Techniques Feasibility When Applied to Air Conditioning

    Author : Torbjörn Lindholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; desiccant wheel; desiccant cooling; evaporative cooling; dehumidification; air-conditioning; HVAC; comfort;

    Abstract : This thesis describes evaporative and desiccant cooling processes for air-conditioning purposes, i.e. for the removal of surplus heat from premises by the supply of cooled ventilation air. These cooling processes can replace the conventional method of cooling ventilation air involving the use of refrigerating machinery. READ MORE
