  1. 1. Miniaturised Bioanalytical Chemistry in Acoustically Levitated Droplets

    Author : Sabina Santesson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; protein crystallisation; affinity two-phase partitioning; single cell analysis; bioanalytical chemistry; airborne chemistry; levitated droplets; Miniaturisation; acoustic levitation;

    Abstract : Fuelled by the current demands of the biological sciences, there is today a growing interest in microscale analysis. Miniaturisation of analytical instruments has become a long-standing trend. Miniaturisation offers several advantages, including rapid separation times, high performance and throughput, reduced costs, etc. READ MORE

  2. 2. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

    Author : Johanna Tollbäck; Ulrika Nilsson; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air sampling; sampling methods; indoor air; SPE; SPME; extraction; dynamic extraction; online coupling; SWE; subcritical water extraction; GC MS; LC MS; organophosphate triesters; PAH; tetrabromobisphenol A; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS). 3. 3. Airborne Isocyanates, Aminoisocyanates and Amines

    Author : Daniel Karlsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental health; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; amines; aminoisocyanates; isocyanates; polyurethane; exposure; occupational; thermal degradation; chemiluminescence; mass spectrometry; Liquid chromatography; gas chromatography; Miljömedicin; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Abstract : Isocyanates are used in the production of polyurethane (PUR). Exposure to isocyanates is associated with respiratory disorders and may occur during production or processing of PUR. During thermal degradation of PUR, amines and aminoisocyanates are formed in addition to isocyanates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aerosols of Isocyanates, Amines and Anhydrides : Sampling and Analysis

    Author : Jakob Dahlin; Gunnar Skarping; Robert P. Streicher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; isocyanate; amine; aminoisocyanate; organic acid anhydride; denuder; impactor; impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; LC-CLND; di-n-butylamine; DBA; thermal degradation; aerosol; particles; TDI; MDI; HDI; ICA; MIC; IPDI; exposure; occupational health; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods for air sampling and determination of isocyanates, amines, aminoisocyanates and anhydrides. These organic compounds are generated during thermal degradation of polymers such as polyurethane (PUR) or epoxy.Isocyanates, amines and anhydrides are airway irritants known to cause occupational asthma. 5. 5. From source to the environment : Strategies for identification and determination of hydroxylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in complex particulate matrices

    Author : Rozanna Avagyan; Roger Westerholm; Conny Östman; Marja-Liisa Riekkola; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OH-PAHs; hydroxy-PAHs; particulate matter; PM; airborne particles; combustion particles; wood combustion; suspect screening; non-target screening; high resolution mass spectrometry; HRMS; atmospheric pressure photoionization; APPI; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Adverse health effects have been linked to exposure to particulate matter, and wood combustion is considered as an important source of harmful particulate matter in the urban air and environment. Hydroxylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a group of compounds with toxic, endocrine disrupting and carcinogenic properties. READ MORE
