  1. 1. Formation of silicon nitride based materials by nitridation and sintering

    Author : Alena Ashkin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Abstract : Todays demands on silicon nitride based materials for structural applications focus on microstructures rendering high strengths and reliability at reasonable costs. This work was mainly aimed at production of sialons for these types of applications by nitridation with subsequent sintering. READ MORE

  4. 4. The effects of some peptide hormones on osteoblast-like cells : with specific focus on oxytocin and vasopressin

    Author : Alena Lagumdzija; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : h0B; SaOS-2; OXT; AVP; IGF-I; PTH; PTHrP; eNOSKO;

    Abstract : The nonapeptides oxytocin (OXT) and vasopressin (AVP) are mainly produced in the hypothalamus and released into the circulation through the neurohypophysis. Recently, an OXT-receptor was demonstrated in human osteoblast-like (hOB) cells, and it has been suggested that patients with central diabetes insipidus (deficiency of AVP) have decreased bone mass. 5. 5. Identification of novel Wnt/PCP signaling regulators and their role in midbrain dopaminergic neuron development and Parkinson's disease

    Author : Alena Salašová; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Wnt signaling controls a wide spectrum of complex cell responses during prenatal development, in the adulthood and during disease. In this doctoral study, we have identified and explored novel regulatory components of Wnt/Planar Cell Polarity (PCP) pathway and their function in various cellular processes during embryogenesis and central nervous system (CNS) development.
