  1. 1. Differences in Situational Awareness and How to Manage Them in Development of Complex Systems

    Author : Jens Alfredson; Kjell Ohlsson; Gunilla Derefeldt; Erland Svensson; Martin Helander; Clemens Weikert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Situational Awareness; Complex Systems; Human Factors; Development; Work sciences and ergonomics; Arbetsvetenskap och ergonomi;

    Abstract : Situationsmedvetenhet (Eng. Situational Awareness), (SA), handlar om att ha koll på läget och vara medveten om vad som händer. Redan då ett komplext system utvecklas får vi en möjlighet att påverka vilken SA en framtida användare av systemet kan komma att få. READ MORE

  2. 2. Influences of paratendinous innervation and non-neuronal substance P in tendinopathy : studies on human tendon tissue and an experimental model of Achilles tendinopathy

    Author : Gustav Andersson; Patrik Danielson; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; David A. Hart; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; tendinopathy; tendinosis; paratenon; innervation; substance P; neuropeptides; neurokinin-1 receptor; Anatomy; Anatomi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Abstract : Pain of the musculoskeletal system is one of the most common reasons for people seeking medical attention, and is also one of the major factors that prevent patients from working. Chronic tendon pain, tendinopathy, affects millions of workers world-wide, and the Achilles tendon is an important structure often afflicted by this condition. READ MORE

  3. 3. The human Achilles tendon : innervation and intratendinous production of nerve signal substances - of importance in understanding the processes of Achilles tendinosis

    Author : Dennis Bjur; Sture Forsgren; Patrik Danielson; Håkan Alfredson; Tomas Movin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; tendinosis; tendinopathy; nerve signal substances; hälsena; Achillessena; tendinos; tendinopati; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Abstract : Tendinopathies are painful tendon conditions of presumably multifactorial genesis. In tendinosis, as in Achilles tendinosis, there is apart from pain also morphological changes which are described as degenerative with no signs of inflammation. The exact mechanisms behind these conditions are still, to a large extent, unknown. READ MORE

  4. 4. Innervation patterns and locally produced signal substances in the human patellar tendon : of importance when understanding the processes of tendinosis

    Author : Patrik Danielson; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; Graham Riley; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patellar tendon; innervation; tendinosis; tendinopathy; acetylcholine; catecholamines; muscarinic receptors; adrenergic receptors; Anatomy; Anatomi;

    Abstract : Tendinosis is a condition of chronic pain that afflicts several human tendons, not least the patellar tendon, in which case it is often clinically referred to as ‘jumper’s knee’. The exact mechanisms behind tendinosis are yet not fully understood. READ MORE

  5. 5. The patellar tendon in junior elite volleyball players and an Olympic elite weightlifter

    Author : Karl Gisslén; Håkan Alfredson; Jon Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; jumper’s knee; patellar tendinopathy; chronic pain; ultrasonography; doppler; neovascularisation; volleyball; weightlifting; Medicine; Medicin; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Abstract : The principal aim of the present thesis was to prospectively follow (clinical status and ultrasound + Doppler findings) the patellar tendons in the young elite volleyball players at the Swedish National Centre for high school volleyball in Falköping. In an Olympic weightlifter with chronic painful jumper´s knee, the effects of treatment with sclerosing injections followed by early instituted very heavy weightlifting training, was also evaluated.
