  1. 1. Bacterial Activity and Community Composition in the Rhizosphere. Influence of plant species, root age, nitrogen addition and mycorrhizal status

    Author : Katarina Söderberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CLPP; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; Biolog; PLFA; mycorrhizal status; nitrogen addition; along roots; plant species; root age; thymidine and leucine incorporation; bacterial composition; Rhizosphere; bacterial activity;

    Abstract : Microbial activity in soil is generally assumed to be limited by carbon availability. The soil closest to roots, the rhizosphere, is therefore a zone of high microbial activity due to carbon containing substances released by the root. In this work short-term effects in the rhizosphere have been the subject of investigation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Guided Elastic Waves along Periodically Corrugated Structures

    Author : Ahmed M. A. El-Bahrawy; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The present thesis consider time-harmonic surface and guided elastic waves propagating along periodically corrugated structures. The problems discussed deal with various configurations where the surfaces are sinusoidally - singly or doubly - periodic, and the interest is focused on investigating the roots of the dispersion relations and in particular the stopband and cross-over resonances. 3. 3. Long-term post-harvest field storage of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris)

    Author : William English; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The post-harvest storage of the sugar beet crop in Sweden occurs in the field. The harvest of roots generally ends along with the month of November, but the processing campaign can continue into February. The loss of quality of the stored roots during this period is economically important. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cervical Radiculopathy: A Study With Selective Nerve Root Blocks

    Author : Leif Anderberg; Neurokirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; Contrast distribution; Nerve root block; Cervical radiculopathy; Kirurgi; traumatology; Treatment; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Cervical radiculopathy is diagnosed by history, clinical examination of the patient and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the cervical spine. In many of the patients undergoing this diagnostic strategy, the nerve root/roots responsible for the radicular pain is difficult to define as clinical examination and MRI investigation does not provide information enough. 5. 5. External Mycelia of Mycorrhizal Fungi - responses to elevated N in forest ecosystems

    Author : Lars Ola Nilsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ericoid; arbuscular; mycorrhiza; nitrogen; deposition; fertilisation; nitrate leaching; retention; field; forest; Quercus; deciduous; Plant ecology; Växtekologi; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; mycology; Microbiology; External mycelia; ectomycorrhiza; Mikrobiologi; bacteriology; virology;

    Abstract : Most plants live in symbiosis with mycorrhizal fungi. Mycorrhizal roots constitute the interface between the plant and the soil, and almost every fine root of forest trees in nitrogen-limited boreal and temperate forests is colonised by ectomycorrhizal (EM) fungi. READ MORE
