  1. 1. Bone and Aluminium

    Author : Hans-Olov Hellström; Karl Michaëlsson; Hans Mallmin; Olle Svensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; Aluminium; Osteoporosis; Hip fracture; Osteoporotic fracture; Alzheimer´s dementia; Bone mineral density; Bone mineral content; Mortality risk; Biomechanics; Inductively coupled mass spectrometry; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Osteoporosis is a major health care problem, by reason of its devastating consequences, in particular hip fractures. Worldwide it has been estimated that the incidence of hip fracture will increase to more than 6 million per year by 2050 compared to 1.7 million per year in 1990. READ MORE

  2. 2. Vaccine-induced aluminium allergy and long-lasting subcutaneous itching nodules

    Author : Anette Gente-Lidholm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood vaccine; Adverse event; Aluminium; Aluminium allergy; Itching nodules; Subcutaneous granulomas; Patch test; Tolerance;

    Abstract : Background: Aluminium contact dermatitis is rare even though aluminium is frequently used in antiperspirants and sunscreens. Sensitisation to aluminium is mostly a side effect of aluminium-adsorbed vaccines. These can also induce long-lasting intensely itching subcutaneous nodules (granulomas) at the injection site. 3. 3. Characteristics of cast aluminium-silicon alloys : microstructures and mechanical properties

    Author : Salem Seifeddine; Birger Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium; Mocrostructure; Porosity; Tensile properties; Modelling; Chemical process and manufacturing engineering; Kemisk process- och produktionsteknik; Materials science;

    Abstract : Applications of aluminium alloys are spreading in many industrial fields due to the excellent combination of castability, mechanical performance and lightness assured by such material. This project aims to establish a methodology in bringing the foundry process closer to the casting designer, and thereby leading to a more reliable and more optimised design. READ MORE
