16. Tuning electron transfer reactions by selective excitation in porphyrin-acceptor assemblies
Abstract : This thesis concerns electron transfer reactions from different excited states in porphyrins, and the effect of changing the energy of the link connecting the donor and acceptor. Photoinduced electron transfer, and subsequent processes were studied using ultrashort laser pulses and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. READ MORE

17. Molecular Recognition Studies Based on Imprinting Technology
Abstract : In this thesis, I have focused on five main research areas: 1). A new type of imprinted polymer has been developed, namely the amide MIP. The amide functional monomers showed better hydrogen bonding capabilities in polar organic solvents and the resulting polymers exhibited good enantiomeric recognition properties in organic media. 18. Molecular basis for galectin-ligand interactions : Design, synthesis and analysis of ligands
Abstract : Galectins are a class of β-galactoside-binding proteins that bind glycoconjugates and have been implicated in cancer, regulation of immunity and inflammation. Design and synthesis have achieved highly potent and selective galectin ligands that can inhibit interactions with glycoproteins and have consequent cellular effects. READ MORE

19. Biobased and biodegradable binders for paper and nonwoven
Abstract : Nonwovens are textile-like materials with similarities close to paper. One significant sector where nonwovens are used is for single-use products such as wet wipes and hygiene products. With an increasing global population, the manufacturing and use of nonwovens have grown significantly. READ MORE

20. Infrared spectroscopy : a tool for protein characterization
Abstract : Infrared (IR) spectroscopy, which belongs to vibrational spectroscopy, detects the vibrations of molecules, for example, proteins. The absorption of the peptide group gives rise to 9 characteristic bands in the infrared region, named A, B, I-VII, with a decreasing energy or wavenumber (cm-1). READ MORE
