1. Novel Pincer Complex-Catalyzed Transformations : Including Asymmetric Catalysis
Abstract : This thesis is focused on the development of new pincer complex-catalyzed transformations. Optimization of the catalytic properties (fine-tuning) was directed to increase the catalytic activity as well as the chemo-, stereo- and enantioselectivity of the complexes. READ MORE

2. Synthesis of Organoboronic Acids and Applications in Asymmetric Organocatalysis
Abstract : Allyl- and allenylboronic acids are valuable reagents in organic synthesis due to their configurational stability and high reactivity. Few allyl- and allenylboronates are commercially available. Therefore, both the preparation and synthetic application of these organoboronic acids are subjects of study. READ MORE

3. Chromatin structure in liver nuclei of Atlantic salmon after activation of the vitellogenin gene by 17-β estradiol
Abstract : The present investigations were initiated to study changes in hepatic nucleiduring the 17-ß estradiol induced synthesis of vitellogenin in Atlantic salmon(Salmo salar). As a model system for the naturally maturing fish parr andsmoltified salmon were used and treated with the steroid hormone. READ MORE

4. Molecular genetic studies of three autosomal recessive disorders : Sjögren-Larsson syndrome, glutathione synthetase deficiency and congenital ichthyosis
Abstract : Investigations at the DNA level were performed in order to characterise the molecular basis forthree genetic disorders:Sjögren-Larsson syndrome (SLS) is characterised by congenital ichthyosis and severeneurological symptoms. Linkage analysis and allelic association of 24 Swedish families affectedby SLS showed linkage between the disease and the marker D17S805 on chromosome 17. READ MORE

5. Functional Characterization of Centrally Expressed Solute Carriers and G Protein-Coupled Receptors
Abstract : Transmembrane proteins are gatekeepers of the cells; controlling the transport of substrates as well as communicating signals among cells and between the organelles and cytosol. Solute carriers (SLC) and G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) are the largest family of membrane transporters and membrane receptors respectively. READ MORE
