1. Process-induced disorder of pharmaceutical materials : Mechanisms and quantification of disorder
Abstract : One of the most important prerequisites in the drug development is to attain a reproducible and robust product in terms of its nature, and its chemical and physical properties. This can be challenging, since the crystalline form of drugs and excipients can be directly transformed into the amorphous one during normal pharmaceutical processing, referred to as process-induced amorphisation or process-induced disorder. 2. Interfacial and material aspects of powders with relevance to pharmaceutical tableting performance
Abstract : Tablets are the most common forms of drug administration. They are convenient to administer and easy to manufacture. However, problems associated with the adhesion of the powders to the tableting tools are common. This phenomenon is known as sticking and even though it has been well documented and studied, it remains poorly understood. READ MORE

3. Changes of Ca and Mg silicate minerals induced by grinding and interaction with water
Abstract : FT-IR spectroscopy, powder XRD, 29Si MAS-NMR, 13C CP/1H-decoupling MAS-NMR, BET surface area and CO2-content measurements have been used to study the processes which occur during dry grinding of Ca and Mg silicate minerals: diopside, enstatite, åkermanite, and wollastonite. In the course of grinding alongside to hydration and amorphisation considerable sorption of atmospheric CO2 by ground minerals occur. READ MORE

4. Reactive Sputtering of Complex Multi-component Nitride Thin Films
Abstract : The ever-increasing demand on improvement of protective nitride thin films has led to an expansion of the research field into multi-element based materials. The work in this thesis has focused on exploring new complex, multi-component nitride thin films based on three different material systems: Al-Ge-N, Hf-Nb-Ti-V-Zr-N and Al-Cr-Nb-Y-Zr-N. READ MORE

5. Fabrication and study of inorganic and organic thin film magnets
Abstract : Thin film magnets are very important for many kinds of electronic devices and play a crucial role to achieve optimum performance. Therefore an intense level of research is going on all around the world to fabricate advanced electronics devices using both new inorganic and organic thin-film magnets. READ MORE
