16. Characterization of Fe-W alloys electrodeposited from environmentally friendly electrolyte
Abstract : This work focuses on Fe-W and Fe-W/Al2O3 coatings electrodeposited from an environmentally friendly electrolyte: minimally invasive, thermodynamically stable, and without toxic compounds. Such coatings aim to be applied for protective applications and as a sustainable alternative to hard chromium coatings. READ MORE

17. Micro-galvanic effects and corrosion inhibition of copper-zinc alloys
Abstract : With the advancement and accessibility of local probing techniques that can operate at the submicron scale it has become possible to analyse the local corrosion properties of industrially important metallic materials and relate these properties to microstructure characteristics of the same materials. In this doctoral study the focus has been on copper-zinc samples, both as industrial brass alloys and as micro-patterned copper-zinc samples. READ MORE

18. Ferromagnetic resonance in films with growth induced anisotropy
Abstract : This thesis discusses two different magnetic materials: epitaxial yttrium iron garnet (YIG) and heteromorphous CoFeB-SiO2 films. YIG films were grown by pulse laser deposition (PLD) techniques onto gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) substrates of (111) and (001) crystal orientations. READ MORE

19. Mechanisms of Uniform Corrosion of Zirconium Alloys in Water and Steam
Abstract : Zirconium alloys are used in key components in nuclear reactors, e.g. fuel cladding tubes in pressurised water reactors. Current trends towards extended burnup of the nuclear fuel in these reactors have accentuated the demand for Zr alloys with higher uniform corrosion resistance under irradiation and lower hydrogen absorption.
