  1. 1. On magnetic amplifiers in aircraft applications

    Author : Lars Austrin; Göran Engdahl; Lars Liljestrand; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; magnetic amplifier magamp ; amorphous; power losses; control winding; self-saturating; hysteresis; converter; more electric aircraft MEA ; inverter; power-by-wire; dymola; permanent magnet generator; PM-generator transformer rectifier unit TRU ; constant speed drive CSD ; excess losses or anomalous losses; modeling; simulation; unmanned aerial vehicle UAV ; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : In the process of designing an electric power supply system for an aircraft, parameters like low weight and low losses are important. Reliability, robustness and low cost are other important factors. READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation of Core-Level Spectra of H-bonded Systems

    Author : Iurii Zhovtobriukh; Lars G.M. Pettersson; Anders Nilsson; Marcus Lundberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water; x-ray absorption; non-resonant x-ray emission; damped linear response theory; time-dependent density functional theory; semi-classical approximation to Kramers-Heisenberg formula; Reverse Monte-Carlo; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The thesis consists of three related projects where attempts have been made to simulate X-Ray Absorption (XAS) spectra of water and hexagonal ice, static non-resonant X-ray Emission (XES) spectrum of water and to apply the semi-classical approximation to Kramers-Heisenberg formula (SCKH) formalism to calculate the non-resonant XES spectrum of water and methanol. The first project is devoted to an investigation of the performance of damped response theory in combination with the DFT electronic structure method (CPP-DFT) in XAS spectrum simulations of liquid water. 3. 3. Engineering inorganic nanostructured composites for boosting H2 and O2 evolution reactions

    Author : Getachew Solomon; Isabella Concina; Alberto Vomiero; Sixto Gimenez; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogen evolution HER ; Oxygen evolution reaction OER ; Oxygen reduction reaction ORR ; Water splitting; Electrocatalyst; Atomic layer deposition; Core-shell structure; Experimentell fysik; Experimental Physics;

    Abstract : Hydrogen is considered a promising energy source with zero emission of CO2; it can provide higher energy density compared to other sources of energy. The amount at which H2 is produced, and the method of production need further improvement for the advancement of hydrogen energy technologies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ceramic Core–Shell Particles : Synthesis and Use within Dentistry

    Author : Camilla Berg; Wei Xia; Håkan Engqvist; Nicola Döbelin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Calcium phosphate; Core-shell particles; Substituting ions; Dentin hypersensitivity; Occlusion; Mineralization; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot materialvetenskap; Engineering Science with specialization in Materials Science;

    Abstract : Dentin hypersensitivity is one of the most prevalent conditions related to oral health, affecting a large share of the adult population. Shortcomings with the available treatment options are related to non-ideal particle sizes and degradation properties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aberration-Corrected Analytical Electron Microscopy of Transition Metal Nitride and Silicon Nitride Multilayers

    Author : Amie Fallqvist; Per Persson; Lars Hultman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Two multilayer thin films have been studied: TiN/SiNx and ZrN/SiNx. A double-corrected transmission electron microscope (TEM) was utilized for imaging and spectroscopy. Imaging was carried out in scanning mode (STEM) for all samples. READ MORE
