1. On magnetic amplifiers in aircraft applications
Abstract : In the process of designing an electric power supply system for an aircraft, parameters like low weight and low losses are important. Reliability, robustness and low cost are other important factors. READ MORE

2. Simulation of Core-Level Spectra of H-bonded Systems
Abstract : The thesis consists of three related projects where attempts have been made to simulate X-Ray Absorption (XAS) spectra of water and hexagonal ice, static non-resonant X-ray Emission (XES) spectrum of water and to apply the semi-classical approximation to Kramers-Heisenberg formula (SCKH) formalism to calculate the non-resonant XES spectrum of water and methanol. The first project is devoted to an investigation of the performance of damped response theory in combination with the DFT electronic structure method (CPP-DFT) in XAS spectrum simulations of liquid water. 3. Engineering inorganic nanostructured composites for boosting H2 and O2 evolution reactions
Abstract : Hydrogen is considered a promising energy source with zero emission of CO2; it can provide higher energy density compared to other sources of energy. The amount at which H2 is produced, and the method of production need further improvement for the advancement of hydrogen energy technologies. READ MORE

4. Ceramic Core–Shell Particles : Synthesis and Use within Dentistry
Abstract : Dentin hypersensitivity is one of the most prevalent conditions related to oral health, affecting a large share of the adult population. Shortcomings with the available treatment options are related to non-ideal particle sizes and degradation properties. READ MORE

5. Aberration-Corrected Analytical Electron Microscopy of Transition Metal Nitride and Silicon Nitride Multilayers
Abstract : Two multilayer thin films have been studied: TiN/SiNx and ZrN/SiNx. A double-corrected transmission electron microscope (TEM) was utilized for imaging and spectroscopy. Imaging was carried out in scanning mode (STEM) for all samples. READ MORE
