  1. 16. Solution-Chemical Synthesis of Cobalt and Iron:Zinc Oxide Nanocomposite Films

    Author : Ulrika Lagerqvist; Annika Pohl; Peter Svedlindh; Mikael Ottosson; Theodor Schneller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fe:Zn oxide; Co-CoO; Solution-chemical synthesis; Heat treatment parameters; Nanocomposite; Film; Multilayer; Phase ratio; Phase distribution; Exchange bias; Magnetism; Photocatalysis; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The potentially most important challenges today are related to energy and the environment. New materials and methods are needed in order to, in a sustainable way, convert and store energy, reduce pollution, and clean the air and water from contaminations. READ MORE

  2. 17. Boron Suboxide Based Thin Films

    Author : Denis Music; Börje Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Boron suboxide (BOx, x< 1.5) is a promising material for a wide range of applications. The elastic modulus (E) of 473 GPa has been reported for crystalline BO0.17, which tends to exhibit ultra-low friction as a direct consequence of boric acid (H3BO3) formation. READ MORE

  3. 18. Experimental studies of ash transformation processes in thermochemical conversion of P-rich biomass and sludge

    Author : Gustav Häggström; Marcus Öhman; Rainer Backman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ash transformation; phosphorus recovery; sewage sludge; chicken manure; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : The efficient use of resources and sustainable recovery of various materials are important to minimize the anthropogenic impact on the climate and environment. One such resource is the phosphorus present in manure and sewage sludge. READ MORE

  4. 19. Functional Metallic Glasses

    Author : Ansar Masood; Lyubov Belova; K. Venkat Rao; Lars Arnberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : Bulk Metallic glasses; glass forming ability; soft magnetism; thin films; magnetic properties; magnetic hardening; plasticity; biocompatibility;

    Abstract : For decades, Metallic Glass, with its isotropic featureless structure while exhibiting outstanding mechanical properties was possible only at a high rate of quenching and with at least one dimension in the submicron regime.  This limitation was overcome with the discovery of Bulk Metallic glasses, BMGs, containing three or more elements following the additional two empirical rules of optimum geometric size differences and negative energy of mixing among the constituent elements. 5. 20. Designing multicomponent alloy coatings for corrosion protection

    Author : León Zendejas Medina; Ulf Jansson; Leif Nyholm; Zoe Barber; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; corrosion; thin films; coatings; magnetron sputtering; high entropy alloy; percolation theory; mechanical tests; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the design of metallic coatings for corrosion protection. The subject of the study was the new class of materials multicomponent alloys (MCAs, also known as high entropy alloys). They consist of near-equal concentrations of many (four or more) metals and are often reported to form a single phase with a simple crystal structure. READ MORE
