  1. 1. Clinical Pharmacokinetics of Small Doses of Ethanol : Role of Gastric Emptying and Other Influences in the Upper Gastrointestinal Tract

    Author : Stergios Kechagias; Risto Roine; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the clinical pharmacokinetics of small doses of ethanol as influenced by conditions in the proximal gut. The bioavailability of orally administered ethanol depends to a large extent on gastric emptying, which is influenced by pre-treatment with drugs and other clinically relevant factors in the upper gastrointestinal tract. 2. 2. Fungal production and solid state chemistry of eritadenine : an integrated approach to development of an active pharmaceutical ingredient

    Author : Josefine Enman; Allan Myerson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Abstract : The present thesis demonstrates an integrated approach to the development of a potential active pharmaceutical ingredient, eritadenine, a cholesterol reducing compound originating from the shiitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes). The main areas covered in the thesis are a method for quantification of eritadenine, production of eritadenine by submerged cultivation of fungal mycelia and investigation of the influence of process parameters on mycelial growth and production, and finally solid state characterizations of eritadenine. 3. 3. Modelling of Substance Flows in Urban Drainage Systems

    Author : Stefan Ahlman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urban stormwater; source control; modelling; diffuse pollution; BMPs;

    Abstract : Stormwater is recognised as a large contributor of toxic substances to receiving waters. Different measures to manage stormwater quality have been proposed, including structural and non-structural best management practices (BMPs). Computer models have become useful tools for the analysis, evaluation and design of these BMPs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Identification of Simple Structures in Complex Substance Transport Models

    Author : Åsa Forsman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Models that can predict the impact of human activities on the environment are a prerequisite for efficient environmental management. Most of the models currently in use are based on either very simple empirical relationships or very complex mathematical descriptions of the major physical, chemical, and biological processes that influence the system under consideration. 5. 5. Pathways of pollutants in stormwater systems

    Author : Kristin Karlsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : The choice of stormwater procedures will affect the pathways of the water and its pollutants, since different stormwater facilities reduce different types of substances and fractions to varying degrees. Traditional stormwater handling has mainly been emphasised to transport the water from the cities. READ MORE
