1. Amphiphilic Graft Copolymer Electrolytes for Lithium-Ion Polymer Batteries. - Preparation and Characterisation
Abstract : In the present work amphiphilic graft copolymers were prepared by free radical copolymerization of macromonomers in solution. The graft copolymers consisted of methacrylate backbones bearing ethylene oxide (EO)n side chains of varying length as ionophilic groups, and fluorocarbon (CF2)6 side chains or hydrocarbon groups as ionophobic groups. 2. Effects of a Novel Amphiphilic Graft Copolymer on Ternary Mixtures of Surfactant, Water, and Oil
Abstract : An amphiphilic graft copolymer, with hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether side chains grafted onto a hydrophobic poly(dodecyl methacrylate) backbone, has been synthesized. The side chains are water soluble and the backbone is soluble in oils such as cyclohexane and isooctane. READ MORE

3. Tuning Properties of Surfaces and Nanoscopic Objects using Dendronization and Controlled Polymerizations
Abstract : In this study, dendronization and grafting via controlled polymerization techniques, atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and ring-opening polymerization (ROP), have been explored. Modification of surfaces and cellulose using these techniques, which enable grafting of well-defined polymer architectures, has been investigated. READ MORE

4. Poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) Preparation and Properties in Polymer Blends
Abstract : This thesis describes the preparation, characterisation and properties of poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) (PE-PEO). The grafting reaction was carried out with the grafting onto method using the carboxylic acid groups of poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) as reactive sites in an esterification reaction with poly(ethylene oxide) mono-methyl ethers (MPEO) of varying molecular weights: 750, 2000 and 5000. 5. Amphiphilic Polymers as Additives in Biomedical Polyurethanes. Surface Properties and Morphology
Abstract : The aim of this work was to achieve surface modification of two biomedical polyurethanes and one poly(urethane urea) through the addition of small amounts of amphiphilic copolymers in solution. The matrix polymers used were the poly(ether urethane)s Pellethane 2363-80AE (P80) and 2363-75D (P75) and a poly(ether urethane urea) similar to Biomer (PUUR). READ MORE
