2. Interaction of sound waves with a swirl stabilized wood powder flame and their effects on flame characteristics
Abstract : Swirling flows have been widely used for many years in engineering applications such as; chemical and mechanical mixing devices, separation units, spray drying technologies, turbo machinery and combustion systems. In practical combustion applications, swirl motion has been adopted to the incoming reactant flows in order to enhance the mixing of fuel and oxidizer and to improve flame stabilization and establishment, especially in regions of relatively low velocities, by recirculating hot product gas to the incoming reactants. 3. Optical Amplifiers and their Applications in Nonlinear Fiber-Optic Communication Systems
Abstract : The work presented in this dissertation deals with the characterization and modeling of optical amplifiers as well as their applications in nonlinear transmission systems with the main motivation to enhance system capacity. In the first part of the dissertation the work is focused on two different types of amplifiers: the semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA) and the erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). READ MORE

4. Optical Properties of Nanoparticles in Composite Materials
Abstract : Nanoparticles are synthetic structures with dimension from 1 to 100 nanometers and are various in types. Some favorable properties peculiar to the nanoparticles (generally owing to size effects) make them prevailing and beneficial for applications in different scientific and engineering fields.
