11. Bringing Together Lean, Simulation and Optimization : Defining a framework to support decision-making in system design and improvement
Abstract : The rapid changes in the market including globalization, the requirement for personalizedproducts and services by the customers, shorter product life-cycles, the exponential growthof technological advances, and the demographical changes, will demand organizations toeffectively improve and design their systems in order to survive. This is the actual paradigmcharacterizing the industrial and service sectors. READ MORE

12. Development, application, and reliability of methods for ergonomic workload assessments in production evaluation and workstation design
Abstract : Ergonomics assessments of conditions for humans at workstations and in manufacturing processes are necessary to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders and enhance efficiency and quality. Many methods can be used for this from systematic observations to direct measurements and simulation. READ MORE

13. Squeak and Rattle Prediction for Robust Product Development
Abstract : Squeak and rattle are nonstationary, irregular and impulsive sounds that happen inside the car cabin. For decades, customer complaints about squeak and rattle have been, and still are, among the top quality issues in the automotive industry. READ MORE

14. Modelling and simulation of paper structure development
Abstract : A numerical tool has been developed for particle-level simulations of fibre suspension flows, particularly forming of the fibre network structure of paper sheets in the paper machine. The model considers inert fibres of various equilibrium shapes, and finite stiffness, interacting with each other through normal, frictional, and lubrication forces, and with the surrounding fluid medium through hydrodynamic forces. 15. Spatial modelling and simulation for disease surveillance
Abstract : This thesis addresses the application of spatial approaches to disease surveillance and control from three different aspects. First, temporal trends, geographical distribution and spatial pattern of cardiovascular disease admission rates were explored on a national level in Sweden. READ MORE
