6. Fullerene-like CNx and CPx Thin Films; Synthesis, Modeling, and Applications
Abstract : This Thesis concerns the development of fullerene-like (FL) carbon nitride (CNx) thin films and the discovery of phosphorus-carbide (CPx) compounds. The work dedicated to CPx include first-principles theoretical simulations of the growth and properties of FL-CPx structures. READ MORE

7. Magnetization Dynamics in Ferromagnetic Thin Films : Evaluation of Different Contributions to Damping in Co2FeAl and FeCo Film Structures
Abstract : Static and dynamic magnetic properties of Co2FeAl and Fe65Co35 alloys have been investigated. Co2FeAl films were deposited at different temperatures and the deposition parameters were optimized with respect to structural and magnetic properties. As a result, a film with B2 crystalline phase was obtained without any post-annealing process. READ MORE

8. Thin films of molecular sieves : synthesis and applications
Abstract : The seed film method for synthesis of ultra thin and thin molecular sieve films was developed. The versatility of the method was demonstrated by successful preparation of films of a number of molecular sieves (silicate-1, ZSM-5, NA) on various supports (silicon, alumina, gold, etc.). READ MORE

9. Metastable YAlN and ScAlN thin films : growth and characterization
Abstract : ScxAl1-xN and YxAl1-xN thin films were deposited in a ultra high vacuum system using reactive magnetron co-sputtering from elemental Al, Sc and Y targets in Ar/N2. Their mechanical, electrical, optical, and piezoelectrical properties were investigated with the help of transmission electron microscopy, xray diffraction, ellipsometry, I-V and C-V measurements, and two different techniques for piezoelectric characterization: piezoresponse force microscopy and double beam interferometry. 10. Nitride Thin Films for Thermoelectric Applications : Synthesis, Characterization and Theoretical Predictions
Abstract : Thermoelectrics is the reversible process which transforms a temperature gradient across a material into an external voltage through a phenomenon known as the Seebeck effect. This has resulted in niche applications such as solid-state cooling for electronic and optoelectronic devices which exclude the need for a coolant or any moving parts and long-lasting, maintenance-free radioisotope thermoelectric generators used for deep-space exploration.
