  1. 1. Musculoskeletal Biomechanics in Cross-country Skiing

    Author : L. Joakim Holmberg; Anders Klarbring; Hans-Christer Holmberg; Anders Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Why copy the best athletes? When you finally learn their technique, they may have already moved on. Using muscluloskeletal biomechanics you might be able to add the "know-why" so that you can lead, instead of being left in the swells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Musculoskeletal Disorders among Farmers and Referents, with Special Reference to Occurence, Health Care Utilization and Etiological Factors : A Population-based Study

    Author : Sara Holmberg; Kurt Svärdsudd; Anders Thelin; Anders Håkansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; farmers; agriculture; rural; musculoskeletal disorders; sick leave; low back pain; hip problems; physical workload; psychosocial factors; lifestyle; comorbidity; work-related fever attacks; epidemiology; etiology; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Objectives. To study the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms among farmers as compared to rural referents and to evaluate the effects of physical work exposures, psychosocial factors, lifestyle and comorbidity.Material and methods. A cross-sectional population-based survey of 1013 farmers and 769 matched referents was performed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Coagulation, fibrinolysis and inflammation in open surgery for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Abdominal aortic aneurysm; blood coagulation; fibrinolysis; cytokines; leucocytes; flow cytometry; chemotaxis; lactoferrin; myeloperoxidase; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : Elective repair of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) carries a mortality of 4-8% and there is a substantial incidence of serious non-lethal complications. During surgery there is a situation of relative ischaemia and subsequent reperfusion of the lower part of the body. READ MORE

  4. 4. Contact fatigue and crack propagation studies of sintered PM steel

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Åsa Kassman Rudolphi; Urban Wiklund; Johan Ahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; PM steel; Fatigue; Crack Initiation; Crack Propagation; Material Analysis; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : Gears made of PM steel are of interest for the automotive industry because from the press/sinter route, complex geometries can be produced to near net shape with only a few processing steps while keeping the material and energy usage at a minimum. However, the PM steels of today have significant performance limitations caused by the inherent porosity which impairs the mechanical properties by acting as stress raisers in the material. 5. 5. Essays on Model Assisted Survey Planning

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Bengt Rosén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : The quality of sample survey results is to a large degree dependent on decisions made by survey statisticians at the planning stage. The first paper studies two issues related to the planning stage: (i) the sensitivity of model assumptions concerning the relation between the size measure and a study variable in without replacement probability proportional-to-size sampling (πps sampling), and (ii) properties of practicable sample selection schemes for fixed size πps sampling.
