  1. 21. Direct and endothelium-linked serotonergic control of vascular tone in human uterine and umbilical arteries

    Author : Caroline Karlsson; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; vascular smooth muscle; uterine artery human ; umbilical artery human ; serotonergic receptor; 5-HT; noradrenaline; endothelium; NPY; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : The serotonergic vascular control was investigated by in vitro pharmacology in the human uterine and umbilical arteries. The localisation of immunoreactive (IR) neuropeptide Y (NPY) and the influence of NPY on the adrenergic vascular effects in the human uterine artery were also studied. READ MORE

  2. 22. Fetal surveillance and outcome in postterm pregnancy

    Author : Margareta Kitlinski; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; reproduction; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Ultrasound.; Umbilical cord artery; Prolonged; Postterm; pH; Mortality; Morbidity; Gender; Fetal surveillance; Brain-sparing; Doppler; Blood gases; Acid-base;

    Abstract : To minimize the risk of short-term and long-term morbidity and mortality among children born postterm, studies were performed to evaluate the fetal surveillance program. (1) Male-fetus pregnancies were at an increased risk... READ MORE

  3. 23. PLASMA PROTEINS IN NORMAL AND PREECLAMPTIC PREGNANCY

    Author : Karl Kristensen; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; Obstetrics; pregnancy; renal function; serum amyloid A protein; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; preeclampsia; beta-2 microglobulin; C-reactive protein; cystatin C; inflammation; placenta; beta trace protein; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to provide extended background knowledge concerning several biochemical markers, used for the medical evaluation of pregnant women with suspected or confirmed preeclampsia, in order to improve the reliability of monitoring. Plasma levels of beta-2 microglobulin, cystatin C and beta trace protein are known to reflect renal filtration in non-pregnant settings, and the plasma proteins, C-reactive protein and serum amyloid A protein, are known to be sensitive markers of inflammation. 4. 24. Unusual vascular responses in the umbilical artery, mediated by endothelin-like receptors

    Author : Maria Laursen; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; sexualitet; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; unusual vascular responses; endothelin-like receptors; human umbilical artery; reproduktion;

    Abstract : In this present study the population of endothelin-like receptors in the human umbilical artery was examined in vitro in different parts of the umbilical cord. Immunohistochemistry revealed ETB receptors in the endothelium and an uneven distribution of ETA receptors in the smooth muscle of the arterial wall, when comparing different parts of the umbilical artery. 5. 25. Factors of impotance for women's health at midlife with special emphasis on effect by sex steroids

    Author : Cairu Li; Kardiovaskulär forskning - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrologi; reproduktion; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; sexualitet; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; lipids; carbohydrate metabolism; norethisterone acetate; estradiol; HRT; symptomatology; Menopause; midlife women;

    Abstract : Menopause is not a disease, but may bring about a wide range of health complaints and increase some risks of illnesses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the general health status and influences of background factors on symptomatology among a cohort of Swedish women aged 50-64 years, with specific emphasis on the effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) by investigating a profile of HRT use, long-term effects of HRT by different tapes and routes of administration as well as clinical and metabolic changes by use of low dose HRT.
