  1. 1. Popliteal Artery Aneurysms : - epidemiology, treatment and results

    Author : Anne Cervin; Martin Björck; Mårten Falkenberg; Hans Ravn; Michelle Antonello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Popliteal artery aneurysms; Endovascular; Open surgery; Outcome; Occlusion; Screening; Prevalence; Rupture; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Popliteal aneurysms (PA) are limb threatening, since the aneurysm thrombose and emboli from the aneurysm sac occlude the distal vessels, resulting in chronic or acute limb ischaemia. Open surgical repair (OSR) has been challenged by endovascular repair (ER), a minimal invasive technique. READ MORE

  2. 2. Familial occurrence of abdominal aortic aneurysms

    Author : Örjan Norrgård; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aortic aneurysms; familial occurrence; serum lipids and lipoproteins; genetic markers; morphology; collagen types; vimentin; desmin;

    Abstract : The occurrence of clinically diagnosed and/or ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) in the families of 220 patients with AAAs, treated at the Surgical Clinic, University Hospital of Umeå in the northern part of Sweden during the years 1965-82, was studied. A questionnaire concerning the blood relatives was answered by 87/89 patients. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aspects on Imaging and Endovascular Treatment of Aortic Dissection and Aneurysm

    Author : Mats-Ola Eriksson; Rickard Nyman; Anders Wanhainen; Johnny Steuer; Mårten Falkenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Aneurysms; aorta; stents; ultrasound; colour Doppler; vascular; interventional; aortic dissection; complicated; TEVAR; EVAR; re-intervention; survival; thrombosis; false lumen; aortic remodelling; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Aortic aneurysm and dissections are potentially life threatening conditions. The advent of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has reduced perioperative mortality and morbidity and are now established therapy methods for treatment of aortic disease. 4. 4. Familial thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections : studies on genotype and phenotype

    Author : Matias Hannuksela; Bo Carlberg; Bengt Johansson; Eva-Lena Stattin; Anders Gottsäter; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Thoracic aorta; familial aortic aneurysm; familial aortic dissection; genetics; aortic stiffness;

    Abstract : Background: Thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections (TAAD) have a genetic component with an estimated 20-25% of the patients having a positive family history. An aneurysm often precedes a dissection. Acute aortic dissections are associated with high mortality and morbidity, even when operated on. READ MORE

  5. 5. Treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms :  Aspects on epidemiology and surgical outcome

    Author : Kim Gunnarsson; Kevin Mani; Jonas Eiberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aortic aneurysm. Ruptured aortic aneurysm; Endovascular aneurysm repair; Open aortic repair; Aneurysm; Outcome; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Aortic Aneurysm (AA) is a life-threatening condition when ruptured (RAA), requiring immediate repair for survival. Since the 50´s, open repair, replacing the diseased vessel with a prosthetic (synthetic) graft, has been the gold standard. READ MORE
