  1. 1. Orthodontically induced root resorption: a clinical and radiographic survey

    Author : Dimitrios Makedonas; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontics; root resorption; prediction; CBCT; Angle Class I; fixed appliance; six month; risk factors;

    Abstract : In 2005 the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU), in a systematic review, Malocclusions and Orthodontic Treatment in a Health Perspective, concluded that there were low or contradicted evidence for an association between orthodontic treatment and the risks for negative side effects. The aims of this study was to evaluate the perception of Greek and Swedish orthodontic practitioners view on orthodontically induced root resorption (OIRR), to investigate how root resorption is handled in a large orthodontic clinic and to prospectively study and correlate the prevalence and severity of root resorption seen after an initial treatment period and at the end of treatment, in a cohort of patients treated with fixed appliance.     Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Muscle volume; fascicle length; pennation angle; anisotropy; three-dimensional freehand ultrasound; magnetic resonance imaging; diffusion tensor imaging; magnetic resonance elastography; Muskelvolym; fascikellängd; pennationsvinkel; anisotropi; tredimensionellt frihandsultraljud; magnetisk resonanstomografi; diffusionstensoravbildning; magnetisk resonanselastografi; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Skeletal muscles are soft tissues that play an important role in maintaining body posture and enabling movements through force generation. The force-generating capacity is associated with the morphological and mechanical properties of the muscle. READ MORE

  3. 3. Next Generation Wideband Antenna Arrays for Communications and Radio Astrophysics

    Author : Christos Kolitsidas; Lars Jonsson; Christophe Craeye; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; array figure of merit; fundamental limits; wideband array; wide scan-angle array; strongly coupled asymmetric dipole array; periodic loading; soft Vivaldi array; 21cm Cosmology; Epoch of Reionization; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Wideband, wide-scan antenna arrays are a promising candidate for the future wireless networks and as well as an essential part of experimental radio astrophysics. Understanding the underline physics of the element performance in the array environment is paramount to develop and improve the performance of array systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthesis of Polyhydroxylated Surfactants : Comparison of Surfactant Stereoisomers and Investigation of Haemolytic Activity

    Author : Kristina Neimert-Andersson; Peter Somfai; Krister Holmberg; KTH; []

READ MORE

  5. 5. Core-collapse Supernovae : Theory vs. Observations

    Author : Dennis Alp; Josefin Larsson; Sergey Tsygankov; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrophysics; Supernovae; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is an astronomical explosion that indicates the death of a massive star. The iron core of the star collapses into either a neutron star or a black hole while the rest of the material is expelled at high velocities. READ MORE
