    Abstract : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 2. 2. Investigations of Transition Metal Systems : Angle-Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy at Low and High Energy

    Author : Thomas Claesson; Oscar Tjernberg; Kevin Smith; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy; electronic structure; oxides; high-temperature superconductors; Material physics with surface physics; Materialfysik med ytfysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis aims at achieving an increased understanding of the electronic structure of materials whose properties are to a large extent governed by transition metals. All studies are based on data from angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES) employed on the valence band of the studied systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Angle-resolved photoemission study of unconventional cuprate superconductors

    Author : Qinda Guo; Oscar Tjernberg; Andrea Damascelli; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Unconventional superconductivity; cuprate; high harmonic generation; narrow bandwidth light source; spherical grating based monochromator; time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy; Okonventionell supraledning; kuprat; hög övertonsgenerering; ljuskälla med smal bandbredd; sfäriskt gitterbaserad monokromator; tids- och vinkelupplöst fotoemissionsspektroskopi;

    Abstract : Understanding unconventional superconductivity remains one of the most important unsolved problems in physics. A particularly noteworthy case is the copper-based high-temperature superconductor, which stands out due to its remarkably high transition temperature and relatively simple structure. READ MORE

  4. 4. Angle Resolved Light Scattering in Turbid Media : Analysis and Applications

    Author : Magnus Neuman; Per Edström; Torbjörn Löfqvist; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Light scattering in turbid media is essential for such diverse application areas as paper and print, computer rendering, optical tomography, astrophysics and remote sensing. This thesis investigates angular variations of light reflected from plane-parallel turbid media using both mathematical models and reflectance measurements, and deals with several applications.
