  1. 6. Aspects of maxillary sinus reconstruction with endosseous implants

    Author : John Eric Blomqvist; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Odontologi; Odontology; stomatology; sinus inlay bone augmentation.; osteomorphometry; osteometry; maxillary sinus reconstruction; maxilla; bone graft; Alveolar bone loss; dental implants; implant position; bone;

    Abstract : This study of maxillary sinus reconstruction in conjunction with insertion of endosseous implants included 99 patients. Two separate surgical methods were applied; a one-staged strategy (n=49) and a two-staged strategy (n=50). The aims were to compare two different strategies concerning implant and prosthetic construction survival. READ MORE

  2. 7. Real-time Locating Systems for indoor applications : the methodological customization approach

    Author : Bartosz Jachimczyk; Wlodek Kulesza; Alfonso Bahillo Martínez; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accuracy and Precision; Angle of Arrival; Fingerprinting Method; Indoor Localization; Indoor Positioning System; Multi-Sensor System; Neural Network; Radio Frequency Identification - RFID; Real Time Locating System; Received Signal Strength; RFID Network Planning; Scene Analysis; Sensors Arrangement; System Customization; Uncertainty; Uncertainty Map; User Driven Design;

    Abstract : Emerging wireless technologies increase the potential and effectiveness of wireless Real-time Locating Systems (RTLSs), which precisely localize the position, and identify things and people in real time. Among many applications, RTLSs are widely used in the industrial sector for indoor logistics and safety applications. READ MORE

  3. 8. Three-dimensional guidance for Endovascular Aortic Repair

    Author : Giasemi Koutouzi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anatomy deformation; CBCT; EVAR; image fusion; image guidance; image registration;

    Abstract : Image fusion (IF) of preoperative computed tomography (CT) with intraoperative cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a potentially powerful tool for guidance during endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). It may improve intraoperative anatomic visualization and reduce doses of radiation and contrast medium. READ MORE

  4. 9. Congenital upper limb anomalies : studies of epidemiology and hand function

    Author : Anna Gerber Ekblom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Objectives: This thesis has three interrelated aims. (1) To describe the epidemiology of congenital upper limb anomalies (CULA) in Stockholm County, Sweden, in order to augment the few existing population studies of CULA (paper I); (2) To measure the incidence of different categories of CULA while using and evaluating a recently proposed new classification scheme (Oberg, Manske and Tonkin (OMT) Classification) based on more current knowledge of limb development than the previously used International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH) Classification is based on (paper II); and (3) To investigate the relationship between measurements of body function and structure with both activity and participation in children and adults with radial longitudinal deficiency (RLD) by using the International Classification of Functioning and Health (ICF) framework, in order to shed light on what aspects of physical limb function and structure actually affect individuals’ daily life activity (papers III and IV). 5. 10. Urologic and metabolic consequences of continent urostomy (Kock reservoir) in children and adolescents

    Author : Gamal Abd El-Gawad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Urinary diversion; Continent ileal urostomy; Kock pouch; Complication; Enterocystography; Enterocystometry; Urography; B12; Folic acid; MMA; Quality of life.;

    Abstract : During the last decades, urinary diversion using an intestinal segment has been commonly used in children and adolescents. Kock pouch is a feasible alternative for the children in need of a continent diversion where other alternatives such as Mitrofanoff are excluded for various reasons. READ MORE
