2. Co-firing animal waste, sludge, residue wood, peat and forest fuels in a 50MWth CFB boiler : ash transformation, availability and process improvements
Abstract : The direct variable costs for heat and electricity production based on solid biomass fuel combustion is approximately 3-5 times lower than the costs in a fossil fuel-oil based boiler in Sweden. In addition waste derived biomass fuels are typically much cheaper than biomass not classified as waste. READ MORE

3. Co-Combustion of Municipal Solid Waste and Animal Waste : Experiment and Simulation Studies
Abstract : Co-combustion of animal carcasses and slaughterhouse waste products (animal waste), which are classed as high-risk infectious waste, has been considered as a “fuel opportunity” for waste-to-energy boilers. In this study, the impact of co-combustion of animal waste with municipal solid waste (MSW) on operational issues such as bed agglomeration, deposit formation and emission was investigated, employing experimental and theoretical methods. 4. From Waste to Wealth: Transforming Biorefineries into Platforms to Valorize Low-Quality Residues
Abstract : The transition to a bioeconomy, in which resources from biowaste could be reclaimed for the production of chemicals, materials or fuels, could contribute to the establishment of a sustainable society by replacing fossil fuels as raw materials. The core of this bioeconomy would be biorefineries, which are similar to petroleum-based refineries, but are facilities where biowaste is processed and refined through different chemical and/or biochemical processes. 5. Making Death Matter : A Feminist Technoscience Study of Alzheimer's Sciences in the Laboratory
Abstract : This thesis is a contribution to feminist laboratory studies and a critical engagement with the natural sciences, or more precisely research on the biochemical workings and deadly relations of Alzheimer’s disease emanating from a year of field work in a Drosophila fly lab. The natural sciences have been a point of fascination within the field of gender studies for decades. READ MORE
