  1. 1. HIBEAM/NNBAR annihilation detectordevelopment

    Author : Sze-Chun Yiu; David Milstead; Fredrik Hellberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : The observed matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe implies a fundamental creation of matter overantimatter, a process linked to baryon number violation. Yet, experimental evidence for such a violationremains elusive. READ MORE

  2. 2. Particle Interferometry in e+e- Annihilation

    Author : Raluca Muresan; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum field theory; DELPHI; Elementary particle physics; LEP; e e- annihilation; Interferometry; Correlation; Bose-Einstein; Elementarpartikelfysik; kvantfältteori; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Muresan;

    Abstract : This thesis is the result of three years of work in Lund University, as a member of DELPHI group, at the Elementary Particle Physics Department. The work concerns the study of Bose-Einstein correlations in electron-positron collisions at LEP. READ MORE

  3. 3. Properties of Hadronization in e+e- -Annihilation

    Author : Jari Häkkinen; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; högenergi; colour interferences; strong interactions; QCD; heavy quark fragmentation; MC programs; Kosmisk strålning; cosmic rays; hadronization; High energy interactions; e e- -annihilation; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Häkkinen;

    Abstract : Possible effects from colour interferences in strong interactions are discussed and investigated, and possible experimental signals in e+e- --> hadrons and e+e- --> W+W- --> hadrons are suggested. The observability of the signals depend on the relative probabilities of the occurrence of interferences, and can provide a measurement of the probabilities. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular Trees for Collecting Sunshine -Monitoring and Controlling Energy Transfer in Dendrimers

    Author : Jane Larsen; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; magnetisk resonans; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; supraconductors; magnetic resonance; relaxation; spectroscopy; Condensed matter:electronic structure; electrical; magnetic and optical properties; Kemi; Chemistry; Femtosecond transient absorption; Os-Ru metal ligand complexes; Cu-porphyrin-appended dendrimers; Zn-porphyrin-appended dendrimers; Annihilation; Energy transfer; Solar energy conversion; Artificial photosynthesis; Antenna systems; spektroskopi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Photochemistry; Fotokemi; Femtosecond fluorescence anisotropy;

    Abstract : A continuing use of fossil fuels will accelerate global warning and result in severe consequences for the environment and thereby also us. Development of alternative, sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources is therefore crucial. One approach is to create an artificial photosynthetic system that converts sunshine into fuel (e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modelling of radiation damage and positron annihilation in metallic materials

    Author : Qigui Yang; Pär Olsson; Bernardo Barbiellini; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radiation damage; First-principles; Positron annihilation spectroscopy; Cu precipitation; Two-component density functional theory; Tungsten; Transition metals; Kärnenergiteknik; Nuclear Engineering; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The radiation damage is one of the key concerns in the research of materials used in radiation environments. In this thesis, we theoretically investigate the radiation damage phenomenon by focusing on two important topics: the defect production and evolution, and the defect characterization. The first part aims at two aspects.
