  1. 1. Viral dynamics and evolution following primary HIV-1 infection

    Author : Annika C Karlsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : HIV-1; primary infection; diversity; divergence; env; gag; pol; viral load; RNA; DNA; resting CD4 T-lyrnphocytes; antiretroviral resistance; founder virus; latency; PCR; cloning; sequencing;

    Abstract : The knowledge of the early events during primary HIV-1 infection (PER) is of great importance for the understanding of the pathogenesis of HIV-1. A major problem in studies on PHI is the limited amount of data accessible from the early time-points. READ MORE

  2. 2. Signaling for color change in melanophores : and a biosensor application

    Author : Annika M. Karlsson; Samuel Svensson; Margareta Wallin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : color change; melanophores; tyrosine; phosphorylations; melatonin; nitric oxide; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Melanophores are dark brown pigment cells located in the skin of fish, amphibia, reptiles, and many invertebrates. The color of the animal can change via rearrangement of pigment granules, melanosomes, in the cells. The dark melanophores can either hide colorful cells so that the animal appears dark, or let through colors from underneath. READ MORE

The majority are glioblastoma (grade IV) (GBM), these being the most aggressive type. Median survival for those treated with standard of care is expected to be around 15 months. READ MORE

  4. 4. The role of non-coding single-stranded oligonucleotides on Respiratory syncytial virus infection

    Author : Sandra Axberg Pålsson; Anna-Lena Spetz; Annika Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Respiratory syncytial virus RSV ; single-stranded oligonucleotide ssON ; small non-coding RNA sncRNA ; nucleolin; virus infection; antiviral; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an enveloped RNA virus of the Pneumoviridae family. RSV is reported to infect host cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis, also called clathrin-dependent endocytosis. Many reports indicate that the virus utilizes the host receptor nucleolin for entry.
