  2. 2. Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in heart failure : exploring the gap between guideline-directed medical therapy and real-world practice

    Author : Anna Jonsson Holmdahl; Krister Lindmark; Helena Norberg; Ellinor Bergdahl; Fredrik Valham; Niklas Bergh; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart failure; Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists; estimated glomerular filtration rate; hyperkalemia; impaired renal function; worsening renal function; guideline-directed medical therapy; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Abstract : Heart failure is the possible end-result of a variety of different diseases, where ischemic heart disease and hypertension are the most common causes in high income countries. In Sweden, heart failure has a prevalence of 2% in the adult population and rises to over 10% among people over 70 years of age. The 5-year all-cause mortality is about 50%. READ MORE

  3. 3. Population Pharmacodynamic Modeling and Methods for D2-receptor Antagonists

    Author : Klas Petersson; Lena Friberg; Mats Karlsson; An Vermeulen; Robert Bies; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; population modeling; schizophrenia; D2-antagonists; pharmacodynamics; drug development;

    Abstract : Early predictions of a potential drug candidate’s time-course of effect and side-effects, based on models describing drug concentrations, drug effects and disease progression, would be valuable to make drug development more efficient. Pharmacodynamic modeling can incorporate and propagate prior knowledge and be used for simulations of different scenarios. READ MORE

  4. 4. Granulocyte activation by danger signals and blocking of receptor responses

    Author : Anna-Lena Stenfeldt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; granulocytes; neutrophils; eosinophils; danger signals; danger theory; formyl peptide receptors; antagonists; inhibitors;

    Abstract : Granulocytes are the most abundant cells in the peripherial blood. They serve to eliminate invading microbes and parasites and release anti-microbial agents. In the event of injury, granulocytes are recruited to damaged tissues. READ MORE

  5. 5. Involvement of vasopressin and oxytocin in the regulation of human uterine activity

    Author : Margareta Steinwall; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; uterine activity; oxytocin mRNA; EP2 agonist; receptors; antagonists; oxytocin; vasopressin; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi;

    Abstract : Vasopressin and oxytocin seem to have pivotal roles in the pathophysiology of primary dysmenorrhoea and preterm labour. Prostaglandins are also involved in the regulation of uterine activity with different receptors mediating both stimulation and relaxation. READ MORE
