  1. 21. Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, Patient Variables, Outcomes and Knee Osteoarthritis

    Author : Paul Neuman; Enheten för led- och mjukvävnadsforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; meniscal injury; knee osteoarthritis; knee radiography; Anterior cruciate ligament injury ACL ; delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage dGEMRIC ;

    Abstract : The ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) leads to immediate symptoms that severely affect the individual and receives great attention among the scientific community, yet there is still no consensus on the optional form of treatment. An ACL injury is also a well known high risk factor for the development of knee osteoarthritis (OA) some decades later. READ MORE

  2. 22. The clinical, radiographic, histological and ultrastructural results after Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using autografts

    Author : Michael Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : anterior cruciate ligament; surgery; histology; biopsy; ultrastructure; radiology;

    Abstract : The clinical, radiographic, histological and ultrastructural results after Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using autografts Michael Svensson Department of Orthopaedics, Institute of Clinical Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy at G?teborg University, G?teborg, Sweden The principal aims of the study were to perform a long-term analysis of the patellar tendon structure after harvesting its central third as an autograft during ACL reconstruction. The patellar tendon underwent long-term serial morphological evaluations using MRI, histological evaluations at two and six years and ultrastructural evaluation six years after the harvesting procedure. 3. 23. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. READ MORE

  4. 24. Anterior cruciate ligament injury. Results after reconstruction in terms of function, postoperative pain and kinematics

    Author : Sveinbjörn Brandsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior cruciate ligament; reconstruction; bone-patellar tendon-bone graft; post-operative pain; morphine; pain reduction; kinematics; radiostereometric analysis; RSA.;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional and objective outcome after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using bone-patellar tendon-bone grafts. Other main objectives were to evaluate postoperative pain, pain reduction and knee kinematics after anterior cruciate ligament injury and reconstruction. READ MORE

  5. 25. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery, aspects of graft choice, graft fixation and bone mineral loss

    Author : Sven Stener; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior cruciate ligament; Reconstruction; Revision; PLLA; Bone mineral areal mass; DEXA;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to measure bone mineral changes in the calcanei, hips and lumbar spine of patients reconstructed with bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) or hamstring tendon (HT) autografts following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Furthermore, the aim was to compare the clinical results after ACL revision reconstruction with either reharvested ipsilateral or contralateral BPTB autografts. READ MORE
