    Abstract : Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disease, affecting the central nervous system (CNS). About 85% of afflicted present with a relapsing-remitting form of the disease (RRMS), for which a breakthrough in treatment was made in 2008 with rituximab, an antibody directed towards CD20, a surface antigen on B-cells. 2. 2. Anti-CD20 therapy in multiple sclerosis : clinical and paraclinical outcomes

    Author : Alexander Juto; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Multiple sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system and the most common non-traumatic cause of neurological disability in young adults. Rituximab is a B-cell depleting drug targeting the CD20 epitope on B-cells, which drive inflammation in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis by acting as antigen-presenting cells to activate T-cell responses against central nervous system autoantigens. 3. 3. Follicular lymphoma : clinical and biological factors associated with response to therapy and overall prognosis

    Author : Sandra Johanna Young Lockmer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Follicular lymphoma (FL) is a heterogeneous group of malignancies within the adaptive immune system. The clinical course is highly variable. Treatment includes different chemotherapy regimens as well as the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab which has significantly improved the prognosis for patients with all types of B cell lymphomas. 4. 4. Prognostic information from nonmalignant and malignant lymphocytes in follicular lymphoma in relation to therapy

    Author : Björn Engelbrekt Wahlin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Follicular lymphoma is the most common indolent lymphoma. It is composed of centrocytes and centroblasts, residing in follicles that also harbour nonmalignant immune and stroma cells. Follicular lymphoma is graded according to the World Health Organization criteria that are based on the frequency of centroblasts. READ MORE

  5. 5. Immunological and molecular studies for the development of vaccine therapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia

    Author : Marzia Palma; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) is a malignant lymphoproliferative disorder which typically affects elderly people. It is the commonest leukemia in the Western adults, accounting for 25-30% of all leukemias and for 10% of all hematological neoplasms. READ MORE
