2. Clinical, microbiological and immunological effects of antiseptics in periodontal treatment
Abstract : Periodontal diseases are characterized by high prevalence in many populations and the chronic and progressive course of the disease. A fundamental stage of treatment is mechanical debridement of the tooth surface. During debridement antimicrobial agents may be applied as adjunctive intrasulcular irrigants. READ MORE

3. On bacteria Persisting Root Canal Treament. Identification and potential mechanisms of resistance to antimicrobial measures
Abstract : Anti-microbial treatment of infected root canals using mechanical instrumentation and chemicals for disinfection does not always lead to complete bacterial elimination and treatment failure may therefore result. As certain bacteria appear more resilient to endodontic treatment than others, the present thesis addresses the species that can most frequently be isolated after treatment and explores mechanisms, which could potentially afford these organisms resistance to anti-microbial treatment measures. 4. Helicobacter pylori cell surface interactions with glycosaminoglycans. Identification and characterisation of proteins binding to heparin/heparan sulphate
Abstract : Helicobacter pylori is a gastric pathogen which cause chronic type B gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. H. pylori produces virulence factors such as urease, vacuolating cytotoxin VacA, cag pathogenicity island-associated proteins, flagella and adhesins. READ MORE

5. Treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa using immunoglobulin Y : A porcine experimental model of ventilator-associated pneumonia and septic shock caused by P. aeruginosa
Abstract : Background: Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in patients treated in the intensive care unit. The spread of pathogens with anti-microbial resistance mandates the investigation of novel therapeutic strategies. We hypothesized that specific polyclonal anti-P. READ MORE
