  1. 1. Quantum Optics with Propagating Microwaves in Superconducting Circuits

    Author : Io Chun Hoi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transmon; second-order correlation function; qubit; microwave photons; photon router; superconducting artificial atom; Autler-Townes splitting; quantum network; SQUID; superconducting circuits; cross-Kerr effect; antibunching; Mollow triplet; Josephson junction; quantum optics;

    Abstract : We address recent advances in quantum optics with propagating microwavesin superconducting circuits. This research field exploits on the fact that the coupling between a superconducting artificial atom and propagating microwave photons in a one-dimensional (1D) open transmission line can be made strong enough to observe quantum effects, without using any cavity to confine the microwave photons. 2. 2. Photoluminescence Studies of Single Quantum Dots

    Author : Nikolay Panev; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stranski-Krastanow; photoluminescence; laser spectroscopy; antibunching; random telegraph noise; blinking; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Panev; solid immersion lens; quantum dots; low-dimensional structures;

    Abstract : This thesis presents photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy studies of single III-V semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The electronic properties of the QDs, as well as, the dynamics of the processes taking part inside and in the surroundings of the QDs have been studied by single quantum dot photoluminescence spectroscopy, time resolved spectroscopy, and correlation spectroscopy. 3. 3. Quantum optics and relativistic motion with superconducting circuits

    Author : Joel Lindkvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Superconducting microwave circuits provide a versatile platform for studying quantum optics with artificial atoms, mainly motivated by applications in quantum information. In addition, the circuits are promising for simulation of relativistic phenomena. This thesis is based on theoretical work along both these lines. READ MORE

  4. 4. Entanglement in quantum communication : preparation and characterization of photonic qubits

    Author : Daniel Ljunggren; Gunnar Björk; Hugo Zbinden; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photonics; Fotonik;

    Abstract : At the heart of quantum physics lies the principle of superposition, and at the heart of information theory lies the bit. Perhaps the most useful property of quantum systems is that they can be loaded with information bits, so-called qubits, that are indefinitely both 0 and 1 until a measurement is made. READ MORE
