  3. 3. Modulation of B cell access to antigen by passively administered antibodies an explanation for antibody feedback regulation?

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Abstract : Antibody responses can be up- or down-regulated by passive administration of specific antibody together with antigen. Depending on the structure of the antigen and the antibody isotype, responses can be completely suppressed or enhanced up to a 1000-fold of what is seen in animals immunized with antigen alone.     Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic lymphocytic leukaemia; immunoglobulin genes; somatic hypermutation; stereotyped B cell receptors; antigen selection; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Clinical genetics Molecular biology; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Klinisk genetik Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes. 5. 5. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Different B cell Lymphomas With Focus on Cellular Origin and Antigen Selection

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Mia Thorsélius; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Christer Sundström; Anders Rosén; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma; Immunoglobulin; V gene; somatic hypermutation; antigen selection; quantitative PCR; Genetik; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Clinical genetics; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphoma (BCL) comprises a biologically and clinically heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from different stages of B cell development. The immunoglobulin (Ig) variable heavy chain (VH) gene rearrangement is unique for each BCL and can be used to reveal cellular origin, to study signs of antigen selection and to quantify tumor cell load.
