1. Assessment and design of industrial manual handling to reduce physical ergonomics hazards : – use and development of assessment tools
Abstract : Despite efforts of reducing harmful physical ergonomics exposures related to manual handling, the occurrence of heavy or repetitive manual handling, and non-neutral postures is high in many occupational sectors. To reduce these exposures, interventions and job design strategies can utilize risk assessment. READ MORE

2. Developing Internet Interventions to Improve Psychosocial Outcomes in Breast Cancer Survivors : Attitudes and practices in Portuguese cancer settings
Abstract : Background: Despite the psychosocial treatment gap in cancer settings and the significant body of evidence on the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of internet interventions, research targeting Breast Cancer Survivors (BCS) is scant, and implementation in clinical settings is limited. While the reasons for this research and implementation gaps are multifactorial, including funding, technical and organizational barriers, the attitudes of the distinct stakeholders in the internet interventions’ ecosystem have been posited to play an important role in this regard. 4. Techniques for Distributed Access and Visualisation in Computational Mechanics
Abstract : This work concern ideas and methods on how the context of computational mechanics can be improved for more efficient utilisation and extended into areas previously not familiar with or capable of using such tools. Three main areas were studied: Providing efficient and transparent access to finite element applications, development of methods for the visualisation of complex phenomena and improving the usability of the finite element method, partly in an educational context. 5. Parabolic equations with low regularity
Abstract : In this work we study a variational method for treating parabolic equations that yields new results for non-linear equations with low regularity on source and boundary data. We treat mainly strongly parabolic quasilinear equations and systems in divergence form. READ MORE
