  1. 1. p38 MAPK Signalling in Endothelial Apoptosis

    University dissertation from Department of Laboratory Medicine, Lund University

    Author : Simone Grethe; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; PP2A; Bad; Bcl-xL; doxorubicin; TNF; p38 MAPK; Apoptosis; endothelial cells;

    Abstract : Endothelial apoptosis plays an important role in atherosclerosis, and a direct proapoptotic effect of chemotherapeutics on the tumour vasculature, emphasizes the great potency of antiangiogenic therapy in the treatment of cancer. We investigated signalling pathways in endothelial apoptosis induced by the inflammatory cytokine tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF), the main target of which is the endothelium, and by the anticancer drug doxorubicin. 2. 2. TNF-α and neurotrophins in Achilles tendinosis

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå University

    Author : Johan Bagge; Umeå universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; tendinosis; tendinopathy; neurotrophins; TNF-alpha; physical acitivity; apoptosis; proliferation; pain; remodelling; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Abstract : Tenocytes are the principal cells of the human Achilles tendon. In tendinosis, changes in the metabolism and morphology of these cells occur. Neurotrophins are growth factors essential for the development of the nervous system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Signal transduction pathways leading to apoptosis or necrosis in insulin-producing cells and prevention of cell death using gene transfer

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Johan Saldeen; Uppsala universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; β-cells; apoptosis; Bcl-2; p38 mitogen activated kinase; NF-kB; necrosis; sphingomyelmase; ceramide; poly ADP-ribose polymerase; nitric oxide; IL-1β; TNF-a; Cellbiologi; MEDICINE Morphology; cell biology; pathology Cell biology; MEDICIN Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Abstract : Signal transduction pathways potentially involved in destruction of insulin-producing β-cells in type-l diabetes and gene transfer to prevent β-cell death were studied in vitro. Adenovirus-polylysine/DNA complexes (AdpL) or polycationic liposomes mediated high reporter gene expression in dissociated primary human, fetal porcine, rat and mouse islet cells whereas gene transfer to intact islets was less efficient. 4. 4. Caspase activation in human neuroblastoma cells: mechanisms and spatiotemporal aspects

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Neurochemistry

    Author : Elena V. Ivanova; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; apoptosis; caspase; local caspase activation; neurodegeneration; tau-anchored FRET sensors; tAFS; cancer; neuroblastoma; TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand; TRAIL; protein kinase C; PKC; X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein; XIAP; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : Apoptosis is one of the modes of programmed cell death, in which several members of the caspase family of proteases play the central role. However, activation of apoptotic caspases does not necessarily lead to cell death. READ MORE

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Åderförkalkning, eller rättare sagt åderförfettning är den vanligaste dödsorsakerna i västvärlden och frekvensen ökar samtidigt som symptomen går nedåt i åldrarna. Därför är det mycket viktigt för oss att få reda på vad som grundlägger sjukdomen, hur vi skall kunna motverka dess uppkomst och hur vi skall kunna bota den. READ MORE
