1. Two-Barrier Problems in Applied Probability: Algorithms and Analysis
Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers (A-E). In Paper A, we study transient properties of the queue length process in various queueing settings. We focus on computing the mean and the Laplace transform of the time required for the queue length starting at $x0. We define the loss rate due to the reflection. READ MORE

2. Looking into the Future : How to Use Advanced Statistical Methods for Predicting Psychotherapy Outcomes in Routine Care
Abstract : Psychotherapy research has shifted from mainly focusing on the average effects of different treatments to concentrating more on questions related to the individual patient. When research attention shifts, it can give rise to the implementation of new statistical methods that, in turn, can illuminate new challenges that must be addressed. READ MORE

3. Mechanical behavior of Lithium-ion battery electrodes – experimental and statistical finite element analyses
Abstract : The applications of Li-ion batteries in the electronics and vehicle industry is increasing at a very rapid pace. This is primarily due to superior properties such as high specific energy storage and power as well as wider operation temperature ranges. READ MORE

4. Some Contributions to Statistical Disclosure Control
Abstract : An important issue associated with the release of statistical data, is the possibility of disclosing individual information about respondents. Statistical disclosure control (SDC), is the discipline that deals with methods of producing statistical data that are safe enough to be released while retaining its analytical value and also methods of assessing the disclosures risks. 5. Nonparametric tests for comparing two treatments by using ordinal data
Abstract : This thesis concerns four nonparametric tests for comparing two treatments in a randomized controlled clinical trial when the main response variable generates discrete or continuous ordinal data and measurements are made at baseline and follow-up. In the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test (WMW) the baseline values are not taken into account at all, but in the other three tests both baseline and follow-up values are used. READ MORE
