6. Adaptive and model-based control in laminar boundary-layer flows
Abstract : In boundary-layer flows it is possible to reduce the friction drag by breaking the path from laminar to turbulent state. In low turbulence environments, the laminar-to-turbulent transition is dominated by local flow instabilities – Tollmien-Schlichting (TS) waves – that exponentially grows while being con- vected by the flow and, eventually, lead to transition. 7. Evaluating Cathode Catalysts in the Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell
Abstract : The polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) converts the chemical energy of hydrogen and oxygen (air) into usable electrical energy. At the cathode (the positive electrode), a considerable amount of platinum is generally required to catalyse the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). READ MORE

8. Cardiovascular beta-adrenergic signaling : Maturation and programming effects of hypoxia in a chicken model
Abstract : Despite the importance of β-adrenergic receptors (βARs) in cardiovascular disease, not much is known about how prenatal hypoxia effects βAR signaling in the postnatal animal. Thus, the aim of this thesis was to characterize the pre- and postnatal maturation of the cardiovascular βARs and the effects of chronic prenatal hypoxia on βAR signaling in the embryo and adult animal using the chicken as experimental model. 9. Going once, going twice, SOLD! : the economics of past and present public procurement in Sweden
Abstract : This thesis is about the economic aspects of public procurement of services through auctionsin Sweden. 10. Psychosocial consequences of false-positive mammography among women attending breast cancer screening. Assessment, prediction, and coping
Abstract : One side-effect of breast cancer (BC) screening is a false-positive mammogram among healthy women. That is, finding(s) on a screening mammogram that lead to additional breast examinations but where the woman is eventually considered free from BC. There is evidence of short-term psychosocial consequences of false-positive BC screening. READ MORE
