  1. 6. Specific surface area of some minerals commonly found in granite

    Author : Isabelle E. Dubois; Maria E. Malmström; Bo Strömberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Granite; Mineral; Surface area; BET; Sorption; Particle size;

    Abstract : The specific surface area, determined by the BET method, is a parameter often used to scale results of mineral studies of surface reactions in terms of rate and capacity to the field scale. Such extrapolations of results from small-scale laboratory experiments to the field-scale are important within many environmental applications. READ MORE

  2. 7. Immunological effects of isolated regional perfusion in malignant melanoma

    Author : Junko Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Melanoma; Isolated regional perfusion; ILP; IHP; Melphalan; Immunogenic cell death; T cells; Monocytes; ISG;

    Abstract : Malignant melanoma patients with metastatic disease confined to the limbs or liver may be treated with hyperthermic isolated regional perfusion with a chemotherapeutic agent, most commonly melphalan. This procedure enables much higher tissue concentrations of the chemotherapeutic agent compared with systemic administration. READ MORE

  3. 8. Thymic studies. Investigations into the effects of childhood thymectomy, and characterization of thymic B cells and Hassall's corpuscles

    Author : Christina Lundqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; thymus; thymectomy; TCR; B cells; APC; Hassall s corpuscles; AIRE;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the human thymus, a primary lymphoid organ responsible for the maturation of T cells. Progenitors arrive from the bone marrow and start to randomly assemble their T cell receptor (TCR) followed by a thorough selection process in which the TCR is tested for functionality and autoreactivity. Abstract : Background & Aims: Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory small-bowel enteropathy caused by permanent intolerance to gliadin in wheat gluten, and related proteins in ray and barley. It is disputed whether CD patients tolerate oats. The only treatment of CD is lifelong gluten-free diet (GFD). READ MORE
