21. HAMLET - In vivo effects and mechanisms of tumor-cell death
Abstract : HAMLET (human alpha-lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells), a molecular complex derived from human milk, is an interesting new tool in cancer research since it induces programmed cell death in tumor cells while leaving normal, differentiated cells unharmed. The in vivo effects of HAMLET were studied in a rat xenograft model of human glioblastoma. READ MORE

22. Apoptosis and tumor cell death pathways in response to HAMLET
Abstract : HAMLET (Human alpha-lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells) is a molecular complex of alpha-lactalbumin and oleic acid, that induces programmed cells death in tumor cells but leaves healthy differentiated cells unaffected. It has a broad anti-tumor activity as more than 40 cell lines from different origin are sensitive. READ MORE

23. Cytokines and Neutrophils in the Urinary Tract Mucosa
Abstract : This study investigated the urinary tract cytokine reponse to infection and the role of chemokines for neutrophil recruitment to the urinary tract. The results suggest that 1) IL-8 and TGFb are consitutively produced by uroepithelial cells in vivo, and that uroepithelial cells are stimulated to produce IL-1b and IL-6 by uropathogenic Escherichia coli. 24. Mechanisms of P fimbriae cell activation
Abstract : Microbial attachment to host cells plays a central role in the induction of inflammatory responses and the production of the disease. Uropathogenic Gram negative bacteria carry surface lectins that specifically recognize oligosaccharide receptor epitopes expressed on glycolipids or glycoproteins. READ MORE

25. Berries in Prevention of Metabolic Disease – focus on obesity, diabetes and gut microbiota
Abstract : The increasing prevalence of obesity is a worldwide health problem closely linked to diet and lifestyle factors. Obesity is associated with increased risk of several metabolic disorders including insulin resistance, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes. READ MORE
