    Abstract : In the strive towards sustainable chemical production, its carbon-based products can no longer be produced from fossil resources but need to be manufactured from a renewable feedstock. Simple aromatic building blocks like benzene, toluene and xylenes (BTX) can be obtained by catalytic valorization of biomass derived platform molecules such as furans provided efficient catalysts can be formulated. 4. 14. Carbon materials: towards a circular economy through thermochemical recycling of mixed waste

    Author : Isabel Cañete Vela; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plastic waste; circular economy; thermochemical recycling; mixed waste; recycling; Carbon materials; steam cracking;

    Abstract : Carbon-containing materials, such as paper, wood, plastic, and textiles, are essential for our daily lives, being used in everything from clothing to infrastructure. However, their use typically follows a linear pattern, in that we extract carbon resources, create products, and eventually dispose of them, thereby contributing to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the supply chain. 5. 15. The inter-and intramolecular selectivity of the carbonate radical anion in its reactions with lignin and carbohydrates

    Author : Magnus Carlsson; Gábor Merényi; Clemens von Sonntag; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; nuclear chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, the effects of the carbonate radical anion on lignin and cellulose were investigated. The carbonate radical has a rather high reactivity towards aromatic lignin constituents. It reacts especially fast with phenolates. All these reactions occur by way of electron transfer. READ MORE
