1. Reliable and deterministic network services
Abstract : In a post Internet bubble economic environment the obvious lack of any disruptive new technologies that could give new impetus to network growth (as, for example, experienced after the appearance of the Web) lead to a trivialization of network services: Aside grass-roots, semi-subterranean applications like file sharing, entertainment content swapping and on-line gaming, it can be argued that network services are presently used in a manner not very different than a decade ago. In this respect, one of the factors that can be identified as limiting further development is the perceived lack of guarantees with regard to network services. READ MORE

2. An electronic warfare perspective on time difference of arrival estimation subject to radio receiver imperfections
Abstract : In order to ensure secure communication in digital military radio systems, multiple methods are used to protect the transmission from being intercepted by enemy electronic warfare systems. An intercepted transmission can be used to estimate several parameters of the transmitted signal such as its origin (position or direction) and of course the transmitted message itself. READ MORE

3. Essays on Microeconometrics and Immigrant Assimilation
Abstract : Paper I. Asymptotic bias reduction for a conditional marginal effects estimator in sam- ple selection models. In this article we discuss the di¤erences between the average marginal effect and the mar- ginal effect of the average individual in sample selection models, estimated by the Heck- man procedure. 4. Model-Based Hypothesis Testing in Biomedicine : How Systems Biology Can Drive the Growth of Scientific Knowledge
Abstract : The utilization of mathematical tools within biology and medicine has traditionally been less widespread compared to other hard sciences, such as physics and chemistry. However, an increased need for tools such as data processing, bioinformatics, statistics, and mathematical modeling, have emerged due to advancements during the last decades. READ MORE

5. Strategies to improve outcome in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary PCI
Abstract : Background: ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) caused by a ruptured atherosclerotic plaque with overlying thrombosis leads to ischemia and progressively to the death of the myocardial cells supplied by the affected coronary artery. Rapid reperfusion with primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in an experienced centre is the preferred therapy for these patients. READ MORE
